Hi all! My name is Noelle and I am currently living in Flagstaff, Arizona. Some background about me...My father is Hard of Hearing and he used to work at Kentucky School for Deaf. Through his involvement at KSD and with the Deaf community I started to become more and more interested in the culture, especially because I was so welcomed and felt so at home whenever I was around students. Unfortunately, I did not learn ASL until I was in college and then I became more and more involved in learning about inequalities and challenges that the Deaf community faces. I am now a graduate student at Northern Arizona University, getting my degree in Sustainable Communities, and trying to find anyone in the Deaf community that I can continue to use ASL with and learn more.
For awhile now I have been working with hearing youth, empowering them to become involved in their community and make changes. I am very interested in working with Deaf youth as well. I want to be an advocate, to learn more, and empower others but help make change where needed as well.
