NASCAR -- Sport or Spectacle?

well....Darrell Waltrip's now retired and is now announcing races for FOX Sports. and his little brother Michael's doing fine after all he won 3 races including this year's rain-plagued Daytona 500. (Michael Waltrip's 1st Daytona 500 win in 2K1 was the same race that killed our beloved Intimidator)

Jeff Gordon's pretty sitting well 3rd place in the points. He even hosted Saturday Night Live on NBC a few months ago.

U can keep tabs on the NASCAR action at their website. But personally I prefer to visit Jayski's Silly Season site cuz the news is much better than NASCAR's official site.

Yeah, those are good sites, this site: http://www.thatsracin.com/ is good too..

Yeah Darrell retired..now a commentator on Fox during first half of season. Right now it is NBC running the second half of season...

For the Americans following the mention of the Aussie V8 Supercars and my comparsion to the Winston Cup NASCAR car. This is what one of the Aussie V8 Supercars look like:

Compare this to a Winston Cup and u see how big NASCAR is on using ancient technology that u dont find at a car dealer when buying either a Taurus, Monte Carlo, Grand Prix or Intrepid.

Ta very muchly, sablescort! :thumb: I have bookmarked them both...and will look through them.
It was a sad day when I heard that Dale Eardhart had died in a crash during that race. :(

oop

NASCAR fans, so tell me exactly what is it that attracts you to this "sport?"

Over the weekend the population of Earth was amused at the end of the latest NASCAR race when one of the losers deliberately rammed the winner(?)'s car in the pit area, hopped out and started throwing punches at the driver who was still strapped in his seat!!

I'm still trying to understand NASCAR, a "sport" that is still mourning a hero named "The Intimidator". One would think with a name like "The Intimidator" he got what was coming to him -- hardly stuff legends and heros are made of.

So, what is it about NASCAR that fires you up?
JUST NOT TRUE DREAMN IT.. HE WISH CUT YOUR TAX "666" FOT OIL THAT OOP
