MAN HAS GOD’S IMAGE

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness....”
Genesis 1:26a
God’s creation of man is different from His creation of all other things. He created man in His own image.
A glove is created according to the likeness of a hand with the purpose of containing the hand.
Likewise, man was created in the image of God with the purpose of containing God.

2. MAN IS A VESSEL

God “should make known the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy...even us.”
Romans 9:23-24
We are vessels of God.
God wants to be our content.
As bottles are made to contain water, we are made to contain God.

It is no wonder that knowledge, wealth, pleasure, and accomplishment can never satisfy you, for you were created to contain God!

3. THE PARTS OF MAN

“May your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete.”
1 Thessalonians 5:23
Man is God’s vessel. The Bible divides this vessel into three parts—the spirit, the soul, and the body.

The BODY is simply the physical body, belonging to the physiological level, contacting the things of the material realm, and is the most superficial part.

The SOUL is the mental faculty, belonging to the psychological level, contacting the things of the mental realm, and is a deeper part.

The SPIRIT is the deepest part of man, belonging to the spiritual level, and contacts the things of God.

For problems of the body one may see a doctor.
For problems of the mind one may visit a psychiatrist.
Yet only God can solve the problems of the spirit.

4. GOD’S ECONOMY
God wants to enter into man’s spirit, to become his content and his satisfaction.

This is the purpose of human existence! You are not merely created to contain food in your stomach, or to contain knowledge in your mind, but you are created to contain God in your spirit.

I have to ask you... How are you so certian the bible carries his original teachings? Do you know how many times it was re-wrote through-out history? Back in those days not many people had the ability to write and there could of been people who manipulated the writings to suit their own needs.

Bible hasn't been rewritten. Its been translating. The probelm with so many people have no experience of having a relationship with God, but nothing but being religious, that's the problem. They just follow thru humans theories instead of self examination in the Word. What Efua is correct. God is pursuiting us, and He wants us to know Him, not "about" Him. All possible is thru Jesus Christ.

First to clarify my point- The teachings were originally passed around by word of mouth. This is bound to alot of change in context. Finally when people got around to writing them down into a book few people had the ability to write, more specifically kings, monarches, schoolars, politicans. In light of the possible facts people -COULD- have re-writen the original teachings to suit their needs and control the population through their faith. There is more than one version of the bible- this validates my point. Not just languages, but also the context.

Now what Efua has said came FROM the bible. If it is not the original teachings and indeed has been altered then how are we so sure that's the 'meaning of life'?

“All Scripture is God-breathed...” — 2 Timothy 3:16
The origin of the Bible is God; it was God who breathed His words of revelation through His Spirit into and out of the writers of the Scriptures. What was breathed out was not only words but also spirit.
The content of the Bible is both extensive and inclusive; the two main aspects of this content are truth and life. Truth brings us revelation and knowledge of all the realities in the universe, such as the reality of God, the reality of man, the reality of the universe, the reality of the things of the present age, the coming age, and the eternal age, and in particular, the reality of the Christ appointed by God and the church chosen by Him. Life is God coming to be our life that we may be regenerated, grow, be transformed, and be conformed into the image of Christ, who expresses God that we may become the expression of God.
The first function of the Bible is to testify concerning Christ. Christ is the subject and content of the Bible, and the Bible is the explanation and expression of Christ. Christ is the living Word of God, and the Bible is His written Word. Without Christ, the living Word, as reality, the written words of the Bible are but empty doctrines and vain letters. Yet without the written word of the Bible as His expression, Christ, the living Word, would be abstract and intangible. Therefore, we must read the Bible if we desire to know Christ.

It's frustrating when you ignored my points. What I posted previously is completely plausible and within the every-reason of logic and inturn would contradict everything you just posted. Yet you choose to ignore the possiblity and jump straight to the absolute.

I personally think Christianity should simply be about being a better person, learning tolerance towards others regardless of race, gender, creed. Kindness and compassion. Not acting as if one is better solely due to choice of faith.

Why bother following what the bible tells you? For all you know it could be wrong. The so called teachings could of been contaminated and re-wrote by otherwise immoral figures. Anyways, I'm just going to back out of this discussion because I can see where it's heading but I have one last question for you...

If the bible told you to drink the grape flavored kool-aid, would you?

Dear Dark- Half,
I do not know what you are talking about, the Bible has been translated for us all to receive what God is saying.

The Bible has pass through many process in the matter of translation but one thing I do know is Author of the Bible is God Himself. And His faithfulness has kept the words in the Bible.

I am never a better person than you. All I do know is that the Bible is the breathing out of God to impart life.No human thoughts can impart life. Even though you have your concept concerning the Bible, yet I know that Bible is real living. No other book could be compared to the Bible.

THE BIBLE
The Bible stands above all other books in the world. It is a unique book. The sixteenth President of the United States of America, Abraham Lincoln, once said that “the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man. All the good from the Savior of the world is communicated to us through this book.” It is the world’s most widely read book and has been translated into over one thousand languages, more than any other book in the world. Countless people have turned to the Bible for comfort, hope, and guidance during times of trouble and uncertainty. The word Bible comes from the Greek word biblos, which means “the book.” This means that the Bible stands as the unique book among all other books in the world. It is the highest among all the classical writings in the West and in the East. The famous French writer Victor Hugo once said, “England has two books, the Bible and Shakespeare. England made Shakespeare, but the Bible made England.”

The Bible Being the Highest in Its Record

The first fact is that the Bible stands alone among all books in its record of authenticity. Many canons of other religions are filled with myths and legends. But within the pages of the Bible we find countless references to actual events, people, and places. The science of archaeology, along with secular historical records, confirms the precision of the references in the various biblical books. The attention to minute detail observed by the biblical writers is unparalleled in any other ancient literature.

The Bible tells of an all-powerful, eternal Creator who created the universe, including the heavens, the earth, and all created things, from nothing. The Genesis account of creation, while not a scientific narrative in itself, is completely harmonious with scientific evidence. According to ancient Greek mythology, the heavens were held up by a giant called Atlas, and the ancient Indian writings tell of the earth being a square and held up by four fish. But twenty-seven hundred years ago, before man discovered that the earth was round, the Bible said that the earth is a circle (Isa. 40:22) and that it hangs upon nothing (Job 26:7).

The Bible also records the origin of man. It tells us that man was made by God in His image (Gen. 1:26-27). Modern science on genetic structure, as well as the discovery of the wonders of the human body, have convincingly proven that, since man is such a complex being, there must be an intelligent Being behind man’s creation. A computer cannot evolve from a mesh of wires, nor can a spacecraft be formed by a series of accidents and coincidences. Every intelligent object must come from a more intelligent creator. The Bible gives the origin of man in a simple and meaningful way: man is created in the image of God.

One of the amazing features of the Bible is the faithfulness with which it records human history. The Old Testament is an account of the history of mankind in the ancient world, especially of the history of the Jews, and the New Testament is an account of the history of the early church. All of the details recorded in both Testaments can be confirmed by modern-day archaeology.

In addition to being a record of the history of mankind in the past, the Bible contains prophecies concerning mankind in the future. Daniel, one of the writers of the Old Testament, wrote at the time of the Babylonian Empire about a dream that the Babylonian king had. In that dream the king saw an image with a head of gold, breast and arms of silver, an abdomen and thighs of bronze, legs of iron, and feet partly of iron and partly of clay. While the king was watching, a stone cut out without hands struck the image at its feet, and the entire image was crushed and was carried away by the wind like chaff from the summer threshing floors, so that no trace of it was found. The stone that struck the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth (Dan. 2:1-45). This image was a picture of the succeeding human empires that appeared in human history. The head of gold signifies the Babylonian Empire, which lasted from 605 B.C. to 539 B.C. The breast and the arms of silver signify the Medo-Persian Empire, which under King Cyrus destroyed the Babylonian Empire and lasted from 539 B.C. to 330 B.C. The abdomen and thighs of bronze signify the Grecian Empire, which under Alexander the Great defeated the Medo-Persian Empire and became the world power from 336 B.C. The legs of iron and the feet partly of iron and partly of clay signify the Roman Empire, which took over the land of the Grecian Empire. Its reign began in 30 B.C. and lasted for over four centuries, after which it was divided into the eastern part and the western part, signified by the two legs. All these correspond accurately with the historical records. The world today is a continuation of the Roman Empire and is part of the legs and feet of the image. The Bible predicts that at the end of this age “a stone cut out without hands” will destroy all human governments and will set up its own government over the entire earth. This “stone” is Jesus Christ, who will set up His kingdom on earth (Rev. 11:15). The image is a picture of human history that spans over twenty-six hundred years. Most of this prophecy has been fulfilled, and some of it will be fulfilled in the future. This is an example that shows us the marvelous facts recorded in the Bible pertaining to human history.

The most amazing prophecies in the Old Testament concern the coming of the Messiah, who is Jesus Christ. The Old Testament contains at least three hundred direct references to Christ; it tells of the place He was to be born, the way He would grow up, and the way and the place He would die. All these prophecies were fulfilled.

Hi Dark-half,

The ultimate, unchanging standard of all truth and reality is found in God's word (the Bible).
- Rev. Derek Prince

The Bible is the living word of God. God breathed. It went thru translations but those who translated them were men of God who prayed and asked for God's guidance and anointing before undertaking the task of translating. All the men who wrote and the men who translated the Bible were God's men so the original teachings were never changed.

I hope this will be the beginning of your earnest search for the truth. God has promised that when you seek Him you will find Him, if you seek Him with all your heart.
