Hi All

My name is Tammy and I am 25 years old. No one in my family is deaf, (but my dad cannot hear certain frequencies do to his job) and recently my hearing has gotten really bad. I have to get people to repeat things, my mom thinks I am ignoring her. It is so frustrating.

I am in University and my third year I took ASL 111 because I had a deaf customer where I worked and I wanted to be able to help him when he came to my store. I am now in ASL 112, and next fall I will be in ASL 211.

Lately I hear ringing in my ears and cant hear certain people at all. I find I lipread alot which is annoying, I get confused alot.

I talked to my ASL instructor (an amazing woman) and she told me it could be tinnitus (I have no idea what that is) I have to get my hearing checked but have no idea who to go see, do I go see my family doctor?

I am scared and frustrated all the time. I dont know whats going on and I am getting annoyed. I know losing my hearing is not a big deal, but kind of hard when no one around you is deaf or hoh.

I thought I would join because it never hurts to have people to talk to that may/are going through the same thing

Tammy

I have been advised to some AD users about my suggestion how to get better.

(1st) See a chiropractor for your neck adjustment due a "painless nerve pitch."

(2nd choice) See a doctor to see if you have a nasal polyps. If yes, then consider to remove them in the surgery but not always successful. Or another way, http://safetyis.us/Allergy.htm or look up on google about nasal cleaning... Nasal cleaning is very effective.

(3) Get a few footbath treatments (Google: biocleanse or toxic footbath) -
http://www.biocleanse.info/qa.html
http://www.slti.com/schuman.html

(4) QXCI treatment (Look up on google) - http://www.theqxci.com/qxci_practioners.html

(5) Ask your honest dentist to get rid of your mecurcy fillings, and replace them to pure plastic fillings. This is the most expensive and difficult to deal with for a long hour sitting on a chair. (This is the last resort.) I have about eight pure plastic fillings, and never a problem for 6 years - no crack or no broken plastic. I heard that clear pure plastic is better than a pure white plastic fillings which is more safer than the white ones. I cannot afford to replace them again. Absolute never listen to a dentist that says a mecury or amalgam filling is safe. He is deadly wrong. Look it up on google... Some companies mixed with plastic and amalgam for cheat money - don't ask me why. This will not make your ear ringing to go away because it takes about 8 years to get rid of mecury in your body naturally. Footbath is a possible...

(6) Considering to become a vegetarian or a semi-veggie (ok for milk, eggs, and fish. But no meat like steak, etc. No corn or no high fruit corn syrup. (Unfortunately, 98% in Genetic Engineering) Never buy milk that contains BST in it. You learn from someone at a health food store.

Thank you for all the suggestions

1 - I go to the chiropractor regularly
2 - I went to the doctor today and we are trying to do a nasal cleaning with antibiotics
3 and 4 - going to look into that
5 - no mercury fillings, all pure plastic
6 - thank you for this suggestion but not an option :)

Thanks again

Use sea salt from a health food store - instead of antibiotic. I would never use the antibiotic unless it is a serious infection. You could try the baking soda - I never try this before so I suggest you to mix with sea salt and baking soda, and let them wait for two minutes.

(I am concerned about the baking soda because some companies add aluminum power in the can for the preservation (??) so I recommend you to read the ingredient before you buy it.)

I did went to my family dr and he prescribed me water pills to see if that will settle the vertigo and tinnitus but it didnt work. so I am going to ENT specialist next week and will check in that and find out.. hopefully i will learn something how to handle it. its real annoyed i know! :(

Anyway welcome aboard and i am sure you will learn alot especially stories and experiences from different people in here. Happy posting! :)

i have tinnitis, too. i've had it for as long as i can remember, but it's the worst it's ever been... the doc tried to give me pills for an ear infection and found out i'm allergic to antibiotics... i've been told that there is nothing that can be done for tinnitis....

Hi Murasaki

I would like to share my information with you and AD users.

Suppose that you have an ear infection - like itchy your ear, you use your Q-tip with warmer water (near hot). Insert it in your ear very carefully, and rub around it for 10 seconds. Do it again three times with fresh water. You will feel better in 10 minutes. That's how it works for me.

If I have an ear tube itchy, I insert my finger back in my mouth on the vertical side to pressure on the inner skin that makes my body "alert" to fight the germ. What a werid but it works.

A few days ago, I had a bad sore throat, I put two or three drops of tea tree oil in the water and gargle in my mouth. It was my first time. The sore is gone about one hour later.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

I dont remember when the ringing started, I just know that now it is getting worse. It is worse in the morning and at night, the day is usually managable. Nothing seems to help that I have tried,

My family doctor gave me a nasal spray and an anti histimine sp?? to see if it would drain the 3rd ear drum. It hasnt worked so far so I think i deffinatly need to get a hearing test done.

OH well, I know some sign, I can get by.

Thanks again.

Tammy

Welcome to alldeaf from Ireland. I have to apologize here cos i am Deaf and don't have what you have at the moment. If i have it i could explain it to you.

Hello and welcome to Alldeaf RDC_girl! I can just only imagine what it must be like in your situation, but rest assure, once you're able to know a bit more sign-language, meet up with other like-minded people, the 'fear' you might be holding will go away even though you may miss out hearing a few things. Whether or not the situation you're presently in is only temporary or permanent, don't ever feel like you're all alone. ;) As frustrating it may be for you now...remember, that frustration won't last. :) I do a good deal of lip-reading and finds it very helpful at times (and some...wellll..*gasps at a person*...did he/she really say that?!! ). Hope you'll enjoy your stay here in AD!

Have a great day!
