Is speaking and listening hard work for hearing people?

I believe the answer here will depend on the person. As I age, hearing with background noises can be quite challanging and frustrating. Listening, on the other hand, really is a skill that takes much attention and concentration. I myself am easily distracted and my mind will wander off without my really knowing it, and I may miss the whole conversation. ~ L

Hearing was not too much of a problem except in large group situations, but listening is what is the lost art. There is a difference between hearing and listening.

I had no problem speaking, but I find it harder now.

I have a real hard time being a large group situations , if I try to talk to a person , their voice is drowned out from all the background noice! It sound like I am in a room with a lot bugs buzzing away! I have to leave the room!
I do better with three people a time , more than that I get lost or left out!
