I'm hoping to be a speech therapist or an interpreter or something along the lines of that and I've been studying ASL since the seventh grade. Although I'm not the best and I still have a lot to learn I want to learn about deaf culture.
A speech therapist?!?!? *makes sign of the cross* Well maybe you could revamp things and change the profession from "gotta make them function as normally as possible" (a la auditory verbal therapy or some of the more extreme auditory oralists) to " Teaching them an active vibrant useful skill that is spoken language as a second language"
