Hey all,

This is for all the technically savvy people in here

Having a problem with my Dlink DSL-G604T router, with Windows Vista Business Edition.

Firstly, i am having trouble loading my router web interface. It can load the front screen, but when I click some of the tabs....they fail to load.

Interestingly enough , this morning it was working loading some of the tabs....but it was very hit and miss.

Furthermore, after a while, the internet connection drops completely, and I get the error message

"[web site name]is not set up to establish a connection on port 'word wide web server' http with this computer"

BUT, when i run cmd...and do ipconfig, everything looks fine, my static IP address matches up, and i can ping google.com etc, and i can ping my router.

Sometimes MSN Messenger can sign in as well, sometimes not. When it cannot sign it, i run the connection troubleshooter and I am told that I need to unblock some ports etc due to some incorrect internet settings.

Anyone have any advice on what to do? All the lights on my router look to be working fine. I did not have this problem with XP.

Also, and what is also an important point, whenever the internet connection drops out...and i go to shut down or restart my PC with the standard Vista buttons- I cannot restart or shut down the PC this way- I need to force a manual re-start by holding down the power buttons- something is getting overloaded somewhere!

Thanks in advance!

James.

It could be your Dlink DSL-G604T that is not compatible for Vista.

Turns out people are having the same problem as you are. Check this link.

Well, it looks like I was right, mate. The router just planned its retirement! :laugh2:

Vista isn't great anymore. That's why people are looking forward on Windows 7

Your Dlink DSL-G604T is disconnection.

Time to replace with new modem with wireless router.
D-Link DSL-2640B ADSL2/2+ Modem with Wireless Router

If the router is the problem , then how come i can, when my desktop new pc connection stops working.....still use the connection here on the laptop?

that proves the router is still working. it is vista that is providing the error of:

[web site name]is not set up to establish a connection on port 'word wide web server' http with this computer

Interesting eh

update: just rebooted my PC and the connection worked again. something is up

It should be nothing wrong with the PC, it is your router that is not famailar with the Vista Business Interface. You know, my new router works great with my Vista Business even my parent's new NetGear router as well.

Ok, ive taken your word for it. Ive purchased your exact router online.

Ill let you know how it goes

Alright, that's cool. The old router definitely is ready for retirement

maybe you need to download the driver? lol but you need to use a different modem for that or get it via the internet cafe, save it on your flash drive pen, take it home install it:dunno2:

Dlink DSL-G604T don't have updated firmware. It is old. Better buy new D-Link DSL modem

I don't care about your computers. It's your router/modem. It's acts like that way.
