A group of us in Illinois got together to try and pass a bill for insurance companies to cover hearing aids for people of all ages. The insurance companies are trying hard not to get it to pass but we have a good chance of getting it passed if people support it.

Even if you are not from Illinois, please take a moment to comment here:

The more the Senators see the support for this, the easier it will be to pass it.

Next step is to try and take it to the Federal level.

It's time for insurance companies to provide coverage for hearing aids!

Are They Medical.. or Are They Cosmetic ?

The thing that gets me is the state considers HA's to be a medical device.. and thus should be covered by insurance, but on the other hand insurance companies classify them as cosmetic.. and that's why in most cases they don't pay.

From my perspective you can't have it both ways.. and just like "DeafMom22" said: "It's time for insurance companies to provide coverage for hearing aids!"

Hey DeafMom, you could maybe frame it in economic growth terms. If HA is covered, then people will be able to spend money elsewhere. Also more people will buy HA.
