Hmm...I was wondering about those emoticons myself. I would think somebody trying to do research or post in their school library could get in trouble if their teachers saw that.

Beo, I am surprised--are you saying that when the kids get up in the morning, all the stuff I'm railing against will just suddenly be gone cuz the lil ones are getting up?

I've spent 36 years working with kids from elementary thru HS and recently retired so please give me a little credit for the path I chose.

well well unforuantely, blame those movies, television, and real-action sexuality exposures,. kids already know what's really happening in this world. there's nothing we can to keep it on censorships since sex ed 101 is already in academy system.

Kids in school shouldn't even be in this forum or any other forum in the first place. If they're going to be on the computer, they're going to be typing up a paper or doing research on official websites... not forums. Forums are not official or appropriate references for papers.

Also, the school can't really touch AllDeaf for these kind of pictures. If they could, they would have to shut down Google, Yahoo, MSN, and many other forums.

No matter that it applies to adults or kids because it's the public forum that runs online that can be reachable anywhere and anytime. Bad idea. Those who use them don't know right from wrong which is rather common around. They are apatheic.

Some certain numbes of avatars are so offensive and so nasty and disgusting. Like Cher had hers just few days ago with a beautiful female butt. Now hers just changed recently that should be obvious that she felt gulity or at least so she had to change it in time due to the polls and compliants from the forum here.

Shame! I even wish that the forum adminstrator should remove the forums like The Closet and Penisarium. It shouldn't belong to the public forum but on their own forum somewhere else. It's only for the sex pervents, matter of fact btw. I avoid them.

Heck, they can be sued by kids' parents who may later discover that their kids are exposed to, I believe that it can happen.

I hate a cat had a masturbation and also fart with gas lit on the avatars. It finds us a lot of annoying. I do have an open my mind but not on the public avatars. It makes me feel uncomfortable.

As for signature with memory to honor people who death anniversary as the membership's wishes. It does not bother me at all. As for the sexuality in the avatars or signatures bother me alot. I am very fond of Princess Diana. I used to be put save screen on my computer every year. It is almost 9 years ago. Princess Diana passed away. Now, I stopped to doing this.

Some people put Elvis Presley or famous sport players on their computer. It is their fan. It is their hobby. It does not bother me.

I would feel not comfortable to put a pictures of myself due to keep my low profile. I used to be put a pictures of my two sons in my avatar. Now, I realized, I need to respect my sons's low profile.

I agree with you, that is why I dont show my sons' faces. you only can see the back of them. I may change my avatar. no idea... maybe down the road. Even my 4 yrs old kid asked me what those smilies doing. It is little too inappropriate for children but this is a public poll. I did not vote becuz I have nothing to say since I am in a neutral zone.

I really hafta disagree. Ask yourself: "Would I want my own children seeing this" and therein lies your answer. The ON/OFF Option buttons don't impress me because remember, there are gobs and gobs of deaf children who come here without registering. Alex's AD ranks high in the search engines so chances are your'e gonna get lotsa kids from schools for the deaf and mainstream schools as well. With the kind of stuff we are seeing in general forum sigs and avatars, those schools will shut down AD.

You made a good point. I am working at Deaf school. I wanted to show this form to the children (teenagers) for the education about the Deaf/Oral languages. I find some of avatars are not appropriated. I could get into trouble to show my students with this kind of Deaf form. The students will tell my supervisors or their parents. What kind of person do I show them? :Oops:

I hope, Alex is realized to not let the members to put any sexual on their avatars or signatures.

You are right. I wonder myself too. I remembered when I was on AllDeaf at the Library. Yes, I see the emoticons on the right column. I had to be very careful because alot of children were around me. I had to shut it down because I do not want their parents be upset.

I think, it is a good idea for Alex to removal all sexual emoticons from the right column when someone want to reply or post on the threads. It is just my opinion to keep this Deaf form neat for the young age members to particular and read this form.

You leave "The Closet" alone! If 'The Closet' should be removed, the I'd say the the sub forum "Christianity, Religion, Spiritual and Other Beliefs" should be removed because there are so many perverted priests/ deacons/ altar boys who molested kids! What a hypocrite! FYI: I fight fiercely to protect the Gay and Lesbian Community!
If you don't like to read what Gay and Lesbian people have to say, then don't go in there .. I avoid "Christianity, Religion, Spiritual and Other Beliefs" as much as I can because I don't agree with them.
I agree with VamPyroX.. Children shouldn't be here or in other forums.. And parents should supervise them.
