I have similiar problem with floaters since I was in late 30's. When my left eye occurs, string with tangled for about 30 minutes to hour and then next day or later in days, my right eye occurs for same thing. Sometimes it happen then will following mirgarines. I realized that I have to sleep at exactly 8 hours everyday keep from mirgarine. 
When floaters in my eye, I can hardly see or read a thing, try to find the clear spots. Sometimes I have to close my eyes when I sit or lay down and must be calm for a bit.
