Identifying minors on AD

Is there a way that minor members of AD can be identified? If we knew when a poster was a child it might temper how we respond to them in a thread.

Only way to view their webcam. Underage kids can put fake birthday, fake pic of themselves, etc.
 
It's probably impossible to know every member's age in AD. It's too easy to fake the age without verification for example.

So how many honest people are out there on the internet? Probably not many.

I think Reba meant for people who admit they are minor. Changing the color of their screen name or something like that so that others don't respond to their posts inappropriately
 
Yeah I understand what you mean, there's no way to tell which members are minor or not. It's common to lie about the age when you sign up on forums, I've noticed we have some high school age members here. That is one of good suggestion idea or to we could have a "teenager" subforum for them to find someone to socialize their age group that could help us and them too.

i can tell,they give themselves away but what the problem this public forum..i careful if under age contact me and they have..
if you had teenager or under age sub forums would that be problematic for every nice person you going have a percent of people with sick motives that real hard to tell
 
You may have a good point... it's difficult to identify who is minor here unless they admit it. Every forum has it's moderator to ensure safe forums for everyone. Like you said this is public forum, and members post on their own risk if they encounter any problems, that's what moderators are here for. :)

Oh my.

Well, I do understand some minors will lie about their age.

But for those who are honest and have registered as under 18, maybe their username could be in a different color.
 
It's not difficult to distinguish them by a feature, it can be implemented it by default based on the birthdate inputted in the user profile. However, wouldn't this also serve as a downside after they are singled out? The stalkers would figure out how to target them with much more ease.

The second issue pertains to what Calvin was mentioning as them inputting a false age, those would require some manual work for us.
 
It is really impossible, US government have made attempt to regulate only to fail. How did they tried to regulate? Using credit cards, the downside was identity thieves so, no way can control them.

You get the wrong idea
Nothing to do with kids, it is porno providers abusing and taking advantage of personal information, plus porno is full of virus and malwares making it easier for ID thieves to fetch these information. That's why government abandoned this requirement few years ago.

Give you idea, how many kids have credit card? That is why government thought of this idea and made a requirement for porno sites to take credit card to filter out underage viewers. Do you really think most of these porno sites are honest? No, it just give them opportunity to abuse them, in other words "Backfired".

what teenage boy not seen porno....my horror my son fell upon pic of woman and a larma he was 15 at the time..i put parental check on computer but he took it off again...porno when it come on my computer has caused many problems,it put itself in my bookmarks made itself wallpaper it just gross

I'm almost afraid to ask; what is a larma? I looked on line and found nothing.

Yes, I've read that on-line porn is the gift that keeps giving--viruses, malware, spam, etc. I'm sorry that you had that experience. :(
 
I remember there are some teen members did tell their stories about school problems and family issues on this AD.
