Well if I own a movie theatre...

And if lease out movies such as

"THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE"
"THE 40-YEAR-OLD VIRGIN"
"TRANSPORTER 2"
"THE CONSTANT GARDENER"
"RED EYE"

And I make $7000 profit on that day, 5 dollars for ticket prices, how many people came to my movie theatre??? $7,000 divide by $6 = 1200 people.

So anyway, and if I have 20 employees, and I am paying them above minimum wage, $10 an hour. Have them working for me for 5 hours.
So I paid each person $50 a day....
$50 x 20 = $1000.

So $7,000 profit - $1,000 salaries = $6,000.

So I have $6,000 in my pocket...

But I have to pay taxes, insurance and electricity, so I have to pay $1,000?

So well I still have $5,000, and what about the Hollywood, they want 50%?
So I have now $2,500 profit for the day. :thumb:

more?

well popcorn and drinks are high prices, I could make a lot of profits off that.

thats' a good profit... but i think there's more expense (i learned from accounting class)

okay, I need to spend on toliet papers and sewage... and water bills.
And maybe some repairs.

So I guess I probably make $2000 profit a day....

Oh come on Moviegoers, come to my theaters, forget the gas price hike!!!!

don't forgot you can get more profit through spounsors.. like displaying AD's at begin of movie for ppl waiting :P

FYI Hollywood generally WANTS 90% from ticket sales! This leaves you up to 10% to figure out what to do. So, to speak if ticket itself is 5 dollars, that means Hollywood wants $4.50 from that ticket! This leaves you ONLY 50 cents for your business operation cost.

I am NOT joking about the Hollywood's practice!

u got it there dude!

this is why many movie theatres look for other ways to earn income.. for example the box of dollys cost $3 really they cost the company only 35 cents per box.. that's $2.65 profit for each box for the movie theatre..

u can notice walmart are selling the same box movie theatres sell walmart sells them for 88 cents.. while movie theatre sells for $3.. shocking?

well okay so "THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE" made $30 million during the weekend...

And the movie is shown in 3,000 theaters in USA...

And $3,000 a day from each theater. $3,000 times 3,000 = $9,000,000.

So if Hollywood want 90%... then.... they get $8,100,000 and
movie owners get $900,000?

Hollywood takes $2700
and a movie owner gets $300???

That sucks.

So for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the movie owner gets $900?

"THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE", those filmmakers gotta pay
the distributor, Sony...

The production budget is $19 million.

So I guess if they get 90% from $30 million, they made during the weekend...
then that is $27,000,000.

So since they got their $19 million back, and only $8,000,000 profit,
so they gotta split it to the film crew, taxes, and actors.

90% is too much to take from a movie owner.

You forgot movie studios do pay marketing cost, distributing cost, legal cost, etc...

He’s right. Movie theaters make absolutely no profit off of ticket sales. All of their profit comes from selling food and drinks. That’s why they get pissy if you bring your own food in.

That is why I told the Movie Owner,
why not have tables in the theatre...
because I get tired of holding hot buttered popcorn in one hand
and cold drink in my other hand...
And I would have to put a cup in the cup holder and hot popcorn on
my lap,, ouch

Then most of time I would spill drink between my legs... and I would
look for napkins to wipe myself off...

UGH!!!, They need tables, since there are many empty seats there anyway.

And need to make seat more comfortable, cause it is stupid to sit
in one position in the cold air conditioning dark room for 2 hours...

Ack!!!

And maybe they need ketchup, mustard, mayo, salt, pepper, napkins, and
all on the tables... so that we won't have to get up and missed part of the movie to get them. And maybe they should provide more food,,, maybe
some salads... and water, tea, and chips... and maybe some hamburgers.

Make theatres more like home or something.

Well, I hear that some theaters are now starting to serve sushi. Jay Leno cracked a joke that now you can go see March of the Penguins and eat the same food the penguins are eating. But seriously, how good could theater sushi be? It’s probably pretty gross.

Miss P, have you thought about taking accounting? That sounds like a good job for you. :)

Let's start out with a few things. Most movies run about 2 hours. Most movie theaters open around 10 am and close around midnight. Workers usually come in a hour or two before open and stay a hour or two after close due to opening and closing duties. In that case, we have about 16 to 18 hours of work total per day. That gives us at least 2 shifts per day. Depending on business during the week and weekends, you'll probably need at least 2 box office cashiers, 2 ticket-rippers, 3 concession stand workers, 2 cleaning workers, and 1 manager per shift. On the weekends, you'll need more. Anyway, that adds up to 20 people working for a whole day at the theater. Also, since most movies are 2 hours long... that gives us time to play each movie about 6 times per day.

So, figuring out the math is a very complicated process. That's why they have multiple departments for these things.

I like sushi with crabmeat in it, but I don't trust raw fish such as salmon.

no I didn't have interpreter. I couldn't hear the PROFESSOR!!!!!

I was just sitting there, didn't say anything....

Most of the time, the professor was absent....

It was so frustrating... I tried to get the stupid VR counselor
to let me try interpreter and see if I can approve my grade...
Nooo, he said I can talk but not clearly and I can understand him...
he doesn't know why I need an interpreter.

I told him that yes I can understand him because his voice is loud and clear enough for me to understand and plus he is much closer to my hearing aid, DUH!!!!

Professor was 8 feet away from me, and he mumbled a lot.

Still no interpreter because my VR counselor didn't understand that. Ugh!!!

And another thing, I was in class Saturday and Sunday, and my professor asked me, "You didn't hear what I just said to her?"

I was embarassed, I thought he was gonna get mad because
he had to repeat some things....

And nope, I didn't tell him that I can't hear well.
Luckily the bone conductor aid slightly sat on top of my head...
and I can hear him talk over my head, while I was typing
in computer, I was learning iMovie...

And then the lady was sitting in front of me, and I had no way of reading his lips or whatever.... and it was embarrassing when everyone has
click on something on the computer and something pop up on their screens...
but I am the only one didn't understand... I was way behind...

I had to raise my hand and tell him to come help me... wow that professor was nice. But he thinks I am strange because he thinks I am not listening.

"I just said that the computer can't burn DVD, only make copy to CD"

And then I said, "I don't have CD, only DVD."

And he sounded impatient, "I just said to everyone that I will give out free CDs to everyone. Did you not hear?"

And then I said, "Oh"
