Good way to encourage people to use bike instead of cars due to cleaning the environment.
 
Free helmets are given out all over Florida. But never seen cops hug the ones that they give it to.

Perhaps they are telling them that they care for them and to please wear a helmet.

^^ That's what I was thinking too. It's probably their way of telling the bicylists to be happy (by giving a hug) that they are alive and keep it that way by wearing a helmet. I think the point was well made.

i admit it is a bit unusual but it is a smart move by the police!
i don't know about you, but i would be more likely to wear a helmet after getting a reaction like that from the police. if i had gotten a different reaction from the police- in a naggy-naggy or scolding kind of way- i'd be less likely to follow the rules next time. :hmm:
