Early this AM, my oldest son woke me up and said...."the FBI is over at E----'s townhouse"!...I looked out my bedroom window and saw several of them, going inside.....Went downstairs and looked out my balcony to see what was going on....They were inside a very long time....

We had not seen the "old man" for 2 days, he's in his late 60's, wife died and lives alone. But was always so friendly with the neighborhood, always said "hello" in passing....Everyone said he was a "nice old man", never bothered anybody, sat on his balcony feeding the squirrels everyday...I even gave him bread that was getting stale for the squirrels, took him over a bowl of spaghetti/soup, etc., when I had left overs.

His daughter came over late evening, and told us what had happened....that the FBI had seized his computer....he had child porno, and had been talking to a 13 yr. old girl....and that he had been arrested once before in 2002 for the same thing!....They took him to jail.....The daughter came back with friends to load up what furniture and things he had in his townhouse. He won't be back she said.....

Quite shocking to me....and made me question my judgement of character. Still shaking my head over this incident....
 
Yes, it is sad. You don't really know people just by the face they present to the world. :(
 
I know my husband constantly has questions about this lady across the street. This neighborhood we are in, hubby was 4 when his parent's house was built and they moved in. This lady moved in across the street about 5 years later. During that time she has gone through 5 husbands. Four died and the fifth divorced and moved out shortly after the wedding. In the years since we have been back here, she has had 3 boyfriends and all of them have moved out real quick. Hubby will not let the kids over there at all. All I know is, the lady helped MIL when we were still in MO, and she feeds the feral cats around here. She also has police officers who live next door to her. Found out, there are 9 different officers living in the neighborhood. 7 for the Sheriff's department and 2 State Troopers.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville man was arrested Wednesday on charges that he transmitted materials of a sexual nature to someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl, according to the Florida Attorney General's Office.

State prosecutors said Marion Texton had numerous sexually explicit conversations with an undercover CyberCrime investigator. He was arrested by officers with the Attorney General’s CyberCrime Unit, with assistance from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The State Attorney's Office said Texton, 66, approached the undercover investigator in an online chat room and began chatting, believing he was talking to a young child. Over the course of at least five months, Texton continued to communicate with the child and transmitted video of himself performing graphic sexual acts.

Investigators said a search warrant was executed at Texton’s Jacksonville home and two computers were seized. The computers will undergo forensic analysis to identify any further evidence of the crimes charged or other potential victims.

Texton will be booked into the Duval County jail on four counts of lewd and lascivious exhibition on a computer, a second-degree felony, and four counts of transmission of harmful materials to a minor, a third-degree felony.

Interestingly, I was just on the County web site and learned there is a convicted sexual predator across the street from me. I guess you really can't judge a book by its cover.
 
You never really know many people in life. Maybe only yourself, your spouse (sometimes :roll:), and immediate family, and some close friends. I still try to go out and seek the good within people, but unfortunately some things like this instance with your neighbor are inexcuseable and hard to expect anything but condemnation from others by doing those stupid things.
 
My first house that I owned after college, our neighbors across the street were in their 50's and very sweet people. Their teen-aged son was forever getting arrested for something or another. His final arrest, while I lived there, had to be something bad as the whole block was swarming with police cars. They went in and came out with bags of "evidence", I suppose, and when his car was being towed (for more evidence I assume), the tow truck driver saw something on the interior of the door and motioned police over, and they started snapping photos like crazy. I don't know what they saw on the door interior, perhaps blood. But in the 7 years I lived there after that incident, I never saw him again. His father told me he went to maximum security prison. Scary ..
 
I found out that one of my USDA Inspectors who I actually worked with at PJP before he became an inspector is a convicted child pedophile. Scary.
 
Years ago a woman came to my mother house and ask her if she knew anything about the doctor that lived across from our house. The woman said the doctor was selling black market babies and she was one! The woman said she was writting a book about black market babies . My mother was shocked , she talked to the doctor all the time and she never knew what he was doing, no one knew about or talk about it . The doctor would tell parents their babies was very deformed and it would be too up setting to see it then he would sell it people that wanted a baby, how horrible! I am so glad my mom did not use the doctor .
