I thought this posting should be in general cuz this covers a wide variety of topics:

Hi everyone, old and new! How are ya? Its been awhile since I've been here -- I've been MIA, with a newfound job/career, teaching, and moving! I'm now a San Diego county (Northern) resident! And I'm now an Account Payables specialist along w ASL associate faculty at a community college.

Things are good lately!

Since I've moved and been busy all weekdays, I was wonder how did those of you who moved to a new area adapt? I found myself being bored on weekends and esp after work (when I actually have free time). How did you meet new people? I'm not that interersted in going to bars/clubs that often, so strike that one out. Ihave found myself going shopping but that is wearing out on me, and I don't usually find new friends in Aisle 3 or 5 or so... ;)

I do have a boyfriend, but I don't want to hang out w him or his friends all the time. Most of my friends are now distant (moved further away, ie Las Vegas, New Jersey, SF, etc etc).

Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated.
I have thought about joining recreational activities (soccer and such).

I think the world had gotten a little inappropriate, there's too many people meeting people via Internet, cell phones, etc.... Now its a bit unheard of, to me at least, for local/in-person introductions... Maybe you disagree... Heh.

Ok I gotta go, am on lunch break and am using the SideKick.

Hugs!

Hey there, welcome back. :)

Glad to hear things are going well with you lately. When I moved out to a new area, I went bike riding to get to know the area better and catch some fresh air. Sometimes I'm in the mood to travel somewhere distant, I don't care where it is, I take my girlfriend with me and just cruise around.

Making new friends in your new neighborhood can be difficult at first, but it's not so hard making friends at work, is it? I think joining a recreational activity is not only fun but you can make friends that way, too, so go ahead and try that.

Good luck. :)

ooo, you are living in SD??
Community college.... hmm.. does it start with a "P"??

Lemme know, maybe we get to hangout more often w.out bumping into eachother? :) Maybe I can introduce you to some North Deafies so you can hangout in your new home area?? Unless you already met them... hmm

PM me or IM me at gnarlydorkette
:D
Congrats, btw

Hey There!

Welcome back girl, and glad things are going quite good for you there...sure missed you here, come around sometimes even if you are not busy! :ily:

Hiiiii after long time no see!

Great to see you here again!

Welcome back to AD

I remember during my high school year I had to move around like about 10 times.... I keep on make and lost friends. Finally in 1999 I moved to Inver Grove Heights, and I didn't had any friend expect for that one state representative live in South St. Paul and former state treasurer that lives in IGH which I know from Capitol. When the caucus comes closer, I decided to e-mail former state rep and ask him to intro me to people in senate district, so he did, and I ended up being friends with them. Later on When I wanted to return to school (unfinished HS education), so I decided to go to nearby high school, and I ened up make friends, etc.... so now I have friends here nearby.. Since I moved to IGH, I started to use bus again, and I could go out lots, and hang out with friends in Twin Cities area, even political friends that I met at the Capitol that lives in St. Paul, etc.. they were glad that I moved back to Twin Cities area after 2 years stuck being in rural hellhole....

Hi there SweetKJ, you're gonna be fine...

Since I've already moved to 3 different states,
they were totally new environments
at different age phases I noticed it's much easier
to make friends during school times
and then when we're into 20's it's easier
to make friends through work and bars...
Then over 30's i tried to avoid
any conflicts at work or bars i felt so
blessed to have some family members
as well as a few local friends from
our local church nearby... Our church actually
have an extreme long list of varied activities
even Harley Davidson motorcycle events,
picnic, softball leaque, etc...

Most important of all is to go with the flow
at any brand new environment as long as
you feel good and safe.
They were totally different people at
all of these three diffferent states,
different kind of activities...
so I went along with the flow...

A few good friends with "quality" is much
better than quanity (many many friends)....

Hey, KJ -

Not much happenin' here. :) Kids are back in school. Got my littlest one in Pre-K now which means he's only in school for half of a day, therefore meaning that Mommy can't work full time yet. Will have to wait until he's in Kindergarten, raising hell for a full school day.

Ya can find out as much as you want about me right here, anyway. I make it a mission to record such events every now and then. ;) http://www.livejournal.com/users/slytherin_mom

Nice hearin' from ya. Keep postin'!
