My name is Ry, I am joining on here because I am learning ASL and I also want to learn more about Deaf culture. I have plans to become a high school social worker, and I'm also hoping to work with the DOVE Advocacy Services for Abused Deaf Women and Children.
I must confess I'm pretty ignorant still, I honestly didn't even know until a few months ago that ASL was a complete separate language from English and that there is a whole culture beyond that. But so far, I am enjoying learning about it so much and I can't wait until I'm more fluent and can actually carry on a conversation! So please don't mind my questions or anything.
