FIRST pics of GTA: San Andreas just released!!!

Looks like we can carjack bikes and ride 'em around...LOL! Notice the drooped pants...whoa!

Rockstar also released the first details of the plot at E3:

"Five years ago Carl Johnson escaped from the pressures of life in Los Santos, San Andreas...a city tearing itself apart with gang trouble, drugs and corruption. Where filmstars and millionaires do their best to avoid the dealers and gangbangers.

Now, it's the early 90s. Carl's got to go home. His mother has been murdered, his family has fallen apart and his childhood friends are all heading towards disaster.

On his return to the neighborhood, a couple of corrupt cops frame him for homicide. CJ is forced on a journey that takes him across the entire state of San Andreas, to save his family and to take control of the streets."

Looks like, to me, the main character will be an African-American in the newest game judging from the makeup of one of San Andreas's suburbs IMO.

Coming to PS2 October 2K4.... xbox (hopefully) and PC versions come over after the PS2 release perhaps in 2K5.

Release this on the frickin' Xbox because it's meant to be, only it wasn't for that stupid contract Rockstar signed with Sony!

At least there's a loophole in it. :)
 
For your information, the screenshots you just saw... I'll bet they WON'T look that GOOD on PS2. It's probably the direct-feed screenshots from the developers' computers.
 
Im inclined to agree that the PS2 grpahix will look crap...Rockstar was stupid for sure to have signed the exclusive contract, but Im not going to be worried since Rockstar might find a way to get GTA:SA to the xbox sooner or later.....

I've played both GTA3 and VC on both consoles and the xbox totally OWNZ the PS2 in the graphics dept. Also the xbox controls were a much better proposition than the PS2 when I ran both games...

All I just hope is Rockstar will allow me to keep my S-12 shotgun, the Python, the PCJ-600 motorcycle and let us SWIM! I hate being sent to the hospital every time I fall in the water...LOL!

They'll probably find a way, like they did with the first two PS2 titles.

Agreed, but I was much more used to the Xbox controllers. I don't own PS2, but my friend does, and I am not too "patient" with the loading times. :P

It's a good thing that Xbox has a hard drive. PS2 may be selling one, but it's a flop. Just like Sega 32X flopped.

I agree, I think it is pathetic for a gangster to be not able to swim!
 
Plus, the thing I hated about the previous GTA games was the the graphics was too blurry, even on the Xbox.

I just hope the graphics will be optimized for Xbox.

starting a black dude? Now that's something to juice up the series! see, it's boring if they keep using a white dude as the main character (no offense to any groups) it's just that it seems alittle racist if they keep using the white guy all the time so I'm just glad to see that they show alittle respect into using various characters, because ANYONE can commit a crime! :D lol

anyway, this looks pretty impressive and stunning...even the graphics looks much sharper and smoother than Vice City.

I know it's coming to the PS2 as an exclusive title, but I hope it will come to the Xbox soon. ;)

Yeah I've played Vice City on the PS2 and I just didn't like the graphics too much because you know, when you drive at night, the lights on the cars look too blurry and reddish, you know? everything looks WAY too 1980s lol but even though it is set in the 1980s they dont have to make it look so damned horrible to see!

so anyway, I liked GTA III the best...better graphics and easier car handling, etc...
 
The only blur I would accept for GTA:SA would be the ones showing the trail of bullets every time a gun is fired. I find the bullet trails useful since I would know which direction the bullet is fired from and easy dispatch the enemy.


However since Rockstar stated that GTA:SA is set in the mid 1990's compared to the 2000's for GTA3 and 1980's for VC so the look might be different, but who knows? I'll wait until they release a video showing it.
 
oooh I have a question! did they say if that game would come with a secondary character or something? you know, perhas if that dude has a back up partner as in a two player team play or something? just wondering
 
OMG! I'm offended! :roll: This is horrible! They're using a black man in the game!? This is a disgrace to our wonderful community! I can't believe they would degrade people like this! This game should be banned! If the "my nigga" smilie should be banned, then this game should be banned! :(

Good question...

I think there may be a secondary character to back up in some missions like Lance Vance and Tommy in some of the missions especially my fave, "Phnom Penh '86" ....

Rockstar may carry that traditon over to GTA: SA but 2-player I dont think so, but I hear rumors that there may be a GTA:Online for xbox live, but who knows?
 
I read some rumors in EGM magzine awhile ago and there were some articles saying that there's a possiblity that the new GTA would be released for Xbox around March since Rockstar games did release the GTA double pack for Xbox last year...and it did sell pretty well indeed...
 
I am very much anticipating the release of this game - :) I hear it's five times bigger than Vice City, which was significantly bigger than Liberty City in GTA3. I cannot wait...going to get the game and the guide so that I know what I'm doing. ;) I still haven't beat either game! LOL. I like driving around, failing missions and getting wasted, it seems. ;)

October is right around the corner anyway. It'll be here, soon...gives me something to do to pass the time, eh? :)
 
I have a ton of information on San Andreas. first of all.. San Andreas will be its own state.. no longer just one city.. you will have a total of 3 big cities.. if i remember one of them representing Las Vegas, one of them being Los Angeles and i can't remember what the other one is right offhand.. in addition to have 3 cities there will be approximately a total of 12 small towns.. and in between all these downs and cities will be vast amounts of countryside.. i have read that it takes approximately 15 minutes of contryside to traverse.. not to mention not only is this game bigger than vice city and gta3.. it is about 6 times bigger than both of those games combined.. a new option is that you will have to eat to sustain your health.. bringing some realism to the game.. not only that but your body shape changes depending on what you eat.. for instance if you go to fast food restraunts and donut shops consistently you WILL get fat.. and not to mention you will get slower.. if you get too fat for instance.. in the story line they will not say your name. other characters will start calling you fat bastard.. believe it or not.. also you will be able to recruit gang members as well so you will form your own gang and conglimerate.. so not only will there be secondary characters but there will be much more than that.. i saw a screenshot in one of my magazine subscriptions and it showed a driveby with the entire gang in it.. which was about 4 to 5 people shooting uzi's and shotguns all at the same time.. not to mention in this game there will be just as much indoors as there is outdoors.. for instance you will be able to go into houses now.. and you will be able to take your gang with you and rob houses.. which i heard is supposed to be difficult.. considering you'll have to come up with a plan and have one gang member watch for cops... the other scale the roof.. and one go around the back etc. etc.. for example at least.. who knows how it will actually play out.. graphics or not.. and as for graphics.. my only comment is.. i've been playing since the first grand theft auto came out.. and have been addicted to the series ever since.. the difference between any gta game prior to gta3 compared to gta3 and beyond.. is quite a leap.. even so.. the gameplay is what keeps people stuck to this game for years to come.. the graphics are just along for the ride.. but thats just my opinion.. what do i know? ;) also in the countryside there will be vehicles associated with it.. such as dirtbikes, (in the city bmx bikes), monster trucks.. etc. etc.. i should review my magazines.. but this is all i have off the top of my head.. i've had the game on reserve for months at gamestop so you can bet i'll be the first one in there when the store opens.. oh and on a side note.. if anyone remembers the leisure suit larry series.. there is a new one coming out i believe sometime this month? (once again will have to look it up) if not already.. which i haven't checked into it.. but its the closest thing just about to a "player/porn" game.. without being too graphic.. sexual innuendo laced good fun.. but its coming out for the ps2.. haven't heard about any other formats.. but i'm definitely picking that up.. and as for now.. i'm off to play some city of heroes.. hope i had enough info for everyone here.. if not too much.. :P
 
San Andreas in my hands...

Yeah it came out yesterday the 26th.. I was the first one at the door before the store even opened up. Impressive is an understatement. If anyone requests my synopsis after playing it for a few hours.. Please feel free to ask since I will definitely be playing it non-stop. ;)
