I'm new here. I've lurked for a while, but just lost the rest of my hearing within the past week and am now somewhat lost. I've been hard of hearing my whole life, lost hearing in my left ear when I was 9 due to a bacterial infection...that's all the doctors can figure out...and the progressive disorder has finally claimed my right ear. Too much more to write right now, but I will...eventually.
I have a degree from Northern Illinois University in deaf education, but I haven't ever used it (master's in special ed i've only recently begun to use). I know a lot about what to expect and all that, but the change is something my wife slowly adapting to right now. She's supportive, but driving me nuts about learning sign language.
I'm sure I'll be on here a lot and hope to share as much as possible.
Joey
