I am a 21 year old university student (don't hate me, please - I'm not looking to poke into anyone's life, promise!). I am hearing and am studying Elementary Education and will graduate this May and start grad school. I am taking ASL 1 (it is a hard class to get into here because many people want to take it and there are very few sections).
I became interested in Deaf culture and ASL last year when I had a first grade Deaf student who was just starting to learn ASL. He had an interpreter with him throughout the day that would teach me signs as they became relevant in the classroom. I decided that I wanted to learn in order to better serve my students.
