Hello everyone, I am a 59 year old man and I have been losing my hearing for about 8+ years. At my last testing I was at about 75-80% loss and dropping.
Family hearing history:
My grandmother wore hearing aids
My mother wears hearing aids
My aunts wears hearing aids
My older brother wears hearing aids
I wear hearing aids.
It ain't look'n good for my daughters is it?
My failing hearing has so impacted my daily life and job that I am now seeking out classes for signing. Unfortunately my wife has thus far shown no interest in participating in learning sign.
I have for years been interested in ASL but now I feel a need approaching. When I go to different functions and meetings I feel excluded because of my failing hearing. It is now affecting my job because it is very difficult to communicate with customers on the phone and face to face.
I hope to gather some insight into the deaf and hard of hearing community.
As for my screen name I am an avid Bowhunter that lives in Virginia. I use that screen name on several different forums.
