He's right. 512mb or higher ram memory would make Ubuntu Hardy Heron run better and smoother. I've had system with 256mb on Ubuntu and it was slow to get around with some programs. Unless you using older version Ubuntu Feisty Fawn version. Or try Mepis, Google's Gos, ect..

I finally got a 2GB memory upgrade for my Acer Aspire laptop! Now I maxed out 2GB with pair of 1GB sodimm DDR333 memory sticks!! Now it's zoom zooming fast!! I'm a happy camper. I would thank my wife for the christmas surpise!

60GB hdd 4500 rpm (slow pokie)
2GB Sodimm DDR333
WXGA 15.4 wide screen Crystalbright monitor
Atheros AR5004 wireless adapter (miniPCI card inside laptop)

Slim DVD-RW drive
Windows XP Home SP3
6 cell Li-ion battery (dead and no good! will not last 8 min after full charge)

My next upgrade is hard drive!!! I wanny 7200 rpm and who cares about heat issue!

Heat from hard drive isn't issue but feel more hot when compare to 5400 RPM.
 
I dont have any upgrades on my PC just yet but did upgrade my PS3 with a bigger HDD of 320GB...I wonder if HDD over 1TB or more would work on there hmmm. :3

Yes it is true, it gets hot if left running too long. Usually I just set power setting to turn off hdd in 30 min. if not used.

I just installed Diskeepers 2009 pro. I sure did have really bad fragged hdd. I am currently defragging hdd and try to keep it that way with automatic defrag. It is much slower in defragging than my AMD64 system in basement that have Seagate Barracuda 7200 rpm 40gb which defrags in 15 min with same program. AMD64 noticably faster than my lappy.

I don't bother upgrading the G4 tower because it's so old.
 
I am planning upgrade motherboard & CPU bundle from EVGA nForce 730a Motherboard CPU Bundle - AMD Athlon 64 X2 5800+ Processor 3.0GHz OEM at TigerDirect.com for my blue tower case cooler master. what do you think of that motherboard and CPU? I know this motherboard is SLi but I am not plan SLI in my blue tower, only my new Cosmos1000.

Or I found this motherboard and cpu combo cheaper 149.99 with no SLi, XFX GeForce 8200 Motherboard CPU Bundle - AMD Athlon 64 X2 5800+ Processor 3.0GHz OEM at TigerDirect.com, man hard to decide lol
