i would like to add, everytime i travel, I would go to the desk and get my ticket, all of suddenly i was be escort by police officer and flight attendt to the gate, they will ask me do i need wheelchair? do i need oxygen mask, im like no, i'm fine, they said ur deaf, and we want to make sure u are okay. Im like UGH, i am fine, this is not the first time they have done to me, it happens at O'Hare Airport..

If hearing people said * i am sorry ur death( deaf)* and walk away.. I would walk toward or yell*, I would said.. Beg me pardon just simply write down the pad! :asshole:

It happened to me often! 
Hearing people used my children to interpeter me for them when they saw our children come to us. I read their lips.
"Can you hear and speak"?
My children replied: Yes
"Good, can you tell your mother or dad..........." with relieved impression.
I told them to not talk my children, but ME. Their replied is "Okay, bye" and went off. I was like
and shake the head.
Hearing people are scared to talk us either we might misunderstand them or not. I get a note and pen to them to write out for me but they doesnt bother. Sometimes okay or not.

In my homearea.. Hearing people aren't walk away Deaf person who doesn't understand each together... Very patience and try talk again until understand. Wow nice small town .. strange isn't same BIG CITY.. Ugh..
Turn me off instant... Hearing people talk me... I told i'm sorry I'm deaf.. can you repeatly.. Mostly saying... Oh uh um... well, not important.. I can find some else who can talk and help me direction. UGH.. Great fine thanks... In my mind.. Wha.. a loser? In Big city (London, Ontario) Wha.. snobish people are..? I do not understand why Deaf School are in London,Ontario people should know better about Deaf School at??? *rolls* Only 30 minutes away from my home area. *Strange* My hubby said.. happened to me all the time... on good days i just let them go but on bad days i ususally get my paper and make them wait while i write it down and i usually says " excuse me... yea im deaf but im not dumb... i appeciated it that u come to me so please finish what u start thank you" they usually continue with paper and pen but once in a while there will be a jackass who would kept on talking and refuse to write down. argh lol

Is it more common for people to say, "Oh nevermind" or for people to oblige you by speaking more clearly or face you while they talk or whatever else...?
more common to hear "never mind" at least it was for me in 23 years of my life.. i can count on one hand of how many times a stranger actually was willing to try and communicate 
it doesnt count those who already knows me ( online ) or family... i was talking about totally strangers...

Before I got my sidekick, every time I go into the bar I always bring paper and pen ready, most people come and talk then after while they try to leave to avoid me... then later on after I got my sidekick, people come to me and find I'm deaf then they will be willingly to type on my sidekick to communicate with me if we are unable to understand each other... Remmy most deaf ususally do this!

Cheri, Yeah i hate that most people asked me that f**king stupid question, Can you talk or can read my lipread after i told them i can't even hear nor talk, please bring pen and write repeat and repeat.. sometime they keep to talk to me before i told them i can't hear and i just nodded at them after seem that they not believe that i am deaf... I let them BLAH, BLAH, BLAH as talk forever tille they done or i walk away from them..

, samething with me, more often whoever come up to me, kept to talking me like blah, blah, blah.. till whoever is laughing about their joke or something comments. they started to wondering if i coudl answer back their jokes. because i easily catch their last sentence, saying" really funny about joke, could you answer this question". i told sorry, i am deaf... some were gulp and made fool out of themselves after i revealed them who i am.

nozoboo, Damn , same thing with me, sometime someone else and i will be willingly to be communcate by sidekick, for example, i running to catch the airport or order some snack by flight attention, using sidekick, it is much worth time to have the communcate..
I noticed that if slang peoples, or surfers, or ghetto peoples, or gang peoples whoever try to apparoched me, talk to me stuffs. whatis up with my head shake up to them then I immeddately told them that i can't hear and i am deaf.. they act like cheer up, say " peace" or "dude, have deaf friends like you" or "dude, cool, man and style shake hands like black's way" and etc.... they sometime felt in trap into lack of commucate with me, they always sign gesture as famous say " you pot?" or "you cigar?" or "you money?". i told them i aint all that.. sometime depend on my mood that i hand them some money, if they respect me in that way. they say, cool and give me handshake like black's way. they respect me that way they are.. sometime i was not expect that some people buy me drink such as pepsi or wine cooler.. they are cool to me everytime..
if weathly people as such elegant or something like suburban people, whoever try to approched me, they found out that i am deaf or something not hear from them. they would say, "sorry, nevermind, getta go now.." they sound like scare and run away from me.. in my mind of back say like oh c'mon, talk to me what they try to getta something to say..
