Hey guys -- anyone reading the current new Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix? I am...am nearly halfway through it already! :)
At first, the storyline was a bit slow to start with, but now it's up to speed and I find it VERY intruging and interesting! I'm not gonna spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it yet.
But I can say that Harry's definitely angerier in this book...so unlike Harry!
This book is a BIG must to read! :)

Hi Sherrie,
I see that you're in Queensland...! :) I'm in Victoria! I've only been in Australia for almost 5 years, but am loving every moment of living here.:D I have been up to Queensland once and loved it! Went to Currumbin Sancutary (near Nerang...I think...ergh)...enjoyed shopping at Robina Shopping Centre in Robina and stayed at a nice resort in Nerang.
I flew in from Tullamarine to Coolangatta/Tweed Heads. I was escorting a couple of clients from my work on their holiday's. (I work for the DeafBlind Association)

Went to MovieWorld, SeaWorld. I really wanted to go to DreamWorld, oh well. Nearly went up to Brissie, but plans got aborted, oh well. Always another time, I reckon. :)

OOoops...off topic....the newest Harry Potter book has been on the shelves since 21st of June, didn't you know? ;) I got it super cheap...$27 rather than the Retail Price of $45! Phew.

 Sounds like you have heaps of time on your hands and had plenty of time to read it! :P pfthhh. I work almost every day, all day long, so the only times I can read it is when I'm in bed, ready for bed. Only an hour at a time. At least, I'm nearly halfway through it!
I agree, the book's great reading! Please, KnightWolf68, don't ruin the surprise and who dies, etc. :)

I finally read it completely last night. It turned out that I don't really expect that who someone died in that book. I thought it was errmmm...now it's not, it's (censor blank). I don't want to spoiled everyone.

Hehehe...Thanks LeviathanC for not spoiling the surprise of who has died in this book! :)

I finished reading the book late last night around 2am. :P Geez...not really what I had expected, but hey...it's a story! :) *sighing* about who died....ain't saying on here cos chances are there are still readers who have yet finished reading the book.

Hehe, I've finished the book already, and I know who dies, but of course I won't say!!! However, I was a little disappointed with the style and structure of this 5th book. I understand that Harry Potter has grown up, and is experiencing a range of emotions. But I felt some of the events were slightly predictable. It was not a huge range of interesting events that all tied into one, it was designed to be a book full of events that supposedly tie in.

The ending disappointed me as well, Harry's reaction is to be expected but I was hoping the ending would be a big, fantastic end to the mystery. Maybe I should read it again, perhaps first impressions of the book wasn't so good. However, I give it 8/10 for its enthrallingness and the romance in it. :P not telling! Be sure to check it out. I still reckon The Prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite book.

Same here...it wasn't what I had expected, but like you said -- will read it again to see what I've missed ...read in between lines, if you get the gist. :)

I mananged to read the book in 2 days, after slapping down a hefty 30 bucks for it -- insane for a childrens book.

I'll say this much -- it was a good read. Not a great book by any means, but it was entertaining.

However though, I prefer the style in which the first four were written. . . the last just didn't seem. . . like it was written by the same author. Quite unexpected, but not too shabby.

I second that, Xero...although I did enjoy it despite the darker tunes to the storyline and the changes in Harry's behaviour and being much angerier and all.
I had expected a lot more action and adventures like in the last 4 books, but it was more of deep thinking and wondering about his future.

I'll just say. . . I'll probably re-read it again soon, I read TOO fast for my own good, this is probably the reason the book seemed so. . . unfinished. I probably just missed too many key events.

I second that, Xero -- I felt the same when I finished reading the 5th book...I felt it wasn't quite complete and I know I must've skipped over a few sentences as I was anxious to find out what was going to happen next, etc etc. So wanted to know who was gonna die, blah blah. :P
Hafta sit down and re-read it S-L-O-W-L-Y! Hehehe

Heh, I didn't expect him to die, least of all people. I dunno, he seemed like an imporant character, yet he never made a big impact, excluding in the 3rd book.

Oh, well. Aside from the book -- the actor who played albus dumbledore died, or so I hear. Heh, they're gonna have hella time finding a replacement for THAT guy. The beard was real, ya know?

Actually, they already found a replacement for Dumbledore months ago. They started filming back in April too as well.

Michael Gambon replaced the late Richard Harris in the role of Albus Dumbledore.

Yeah, I did hear they got a replacement for the irreplacement of Richard Harris who sadly died last October, just before the 2nd installment was released to theatres.
It's not going to be the same without Richard Harris, he did the role as Albus Dumbledore excellently.

R.I.P. Richard Harris

Heh, I don't really keep in touch with that kinda stuff. God, I AM behind. I only found out about this a few weeks ago.

Isn't Michael Gambon the actor who plays Gandalf in Lord of the Rings?
