It seems that the PlayStation 3 version of the new next-generation Grand Theft Auto IV will be superior to the Xbox 360 because of a few key things Microsoft left out of their console.
Rockstar has had a lot of problems trying to develop GTA IV for the Xbox 360 due to the fact that Microsoft does not have a hard drive in every console. The same can be said about the DVD drive as it does not have the speed and storage capacity which the PlayStation 3 has with its Blu-ray.
Lately we've seen several examples of publishers and developers favoring the Xbox 360 over the PlayStation 3. Some developers have complained that the PS3 is difficult to develop for, and top publishers have been making previously Sony-exclusive games available on Microsoft's console, where the install base is much higher. But one high-profile developer is sticking up for the PS3.
An interview with the UK's Official PlayStation Magazine reveals that Rockstar's creative VP Dan Houser believes the 360 is impairing the development of Grand Theft Auto IV. According to the magazine's online partner, Computer and Videogames, Houser says the lack of a guaranteed hard drive and the smaller storage space of the DVD format is limiting the game's progress. In contrast, all PS3s have a built-in hard drive and the console's Blu-Ray format can hold about five times as much content as DVD.
A unique feature must surely be connectivity between PS3 and PSP. Rockstar has revealed there will be new ways to connect to the GTA IV World, using a cellphone, PDA and email, for example. If we can view the city map on the our PSP, using it as a virtual PDA, then the world of GTA IV will be a seamless one. More interestingly, it would be great to receive phone calls and email direct to your PSP rather than on screen. Perhaps you could even receive emails via and keep playing when you're on the train? Also, Rockstar recently announces the violent -sounding Beaterator for PSP. This music -Sequencing game enable you to sample and mix beats, then replay them to friends and even Wi-Fi them to other PSPs
The PS3 hard drive and CPU should deliver a smoother GTA IV than on Xbox 360. Less loading, more detail and vibrant color palette should make PS3 GTA IV stand head and shoulders above the Xbox 360 version. But what about the Xbox 360's exclusive episodic content? Well, chances are, the PS3 will have similar downloads at some point in the future. If not, we should have PSP connectivity and multiplayer to look forward too.
Now, I'm expected that GTA 4 on PS3 version would better so far than Xbox 360 version.
