Good book (so far), confused by cover

Hello! I was going through a library when I saw a book called 'Deafening' by Frances Itani. Of course, I was interested, so I picked it up, then took it out from the library.

I didn't pay any attention to the cover, but later on a friend of mine noticed the cover and asked "is she saying 'love' or just being really dramatic?" (Referring to the girl in the photo on the front cover)

I think she is saying 'love', but I am not sure, so I am turning to you guys, the professionals, to hopefully answer the question.
