Freecycle™: Changing the World One Gift at a Time
The Freecycle Network is made up of many individual groups across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. I had been a member of freecycle.org for about a year and I had gotten many good things. You must follow their policies depending where you live and county you are from.. You cannot ask for something all the time and never give something away.. If you are the 'winner 'of the item, you must travel to get it.. They will not bring it over to your house. If you are not sure if you understand what you are supposed to do, feel free to ask me and I'll explain how it works. It took awhile for me to understand their policies.

I am member of Freecycle in my area. I love it! :) But wow at the max of E-mail! LOL!

I bookmarked this link. Thanks.

I looked up, and there are many unavailable in the directory (or states). How can I find the active users on the list?

I'm a member of Freecycle, and I've gotten some neat stuff, and found good homes for some of my old stuff.

I love this freecycler, too. The downside is that sometimes there are no shows. I'd rather meet people at the 7 & Eleven down at the corner for safety.

If no show, you may have to report to the MOD. That what I did and warned her/him up to 3 times and if 4th good bye no longer on the list.

I know it's old posting (July 2007) but anyway... Yes, that's why you have to keep at least 3 people who are interested.. If 1st person, no show, then you can notify the 2nd person.. if not, then 3rd person, etc until your stuff gets picked up. You can set the location where you want to meet to pick up or drop off.

You can change it from individual email into a daily digest mail (max 25 messages in one email) Set up through in your "yahoo account" preference.

Regions of United States
The Freecycle Network

If you don't see your state or country, be the first one ! :) I assume you'll have to go to Start a Group - Freecycle™: Changing the World, One Gift at a Time

I think you have to subscribe 'Yahoo" and subscribe one of the place so you could see the directory. It's not open to public.

I am curious abt this site, how it work? I did enter my location (DC) and I dont see any listing?

freecycledc : District of Columbia Freecycle(TM)
You need to subscribe it first. Best if you already have 'yahoo' account which makes everything easier.
Group Email Addresses:
Post message: freecycledc@yahoogroups.com
Subscribe: freecycledc-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
Unsubscribe: freecycledc-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com
List owner: freecycledc-owner@yahoogroups.com
Once you get approved by the moderator, they will send you instructions. Then you log in "Yahoo Groups" and find 'freecycledc' to edit your preferences on how you want to get your messages daily. One message on each page or get daily digest (25 message per one page) You better off to use daily digest because you might get several "one page" a day- better than over 75 individual message a day.
Hope that helps.

Fyi

FYI : you cannot sell anything.. only to get rid of your stuff or look for things that you need. If you want to give something away, you must be honest if it is missing something, damaged, or not working (only if there is something wrong) otherwise if your stuff is in a good condition - you can say 'fair condition' or 'good condition'. I think there are rules where you cannot always ask for something and never give away something. You have to read their rules. All rules are not the same. You can subscribe for either Md or Va where you live closer to. I subscribed for 3 counties here in NJ.

Here is what daily digest (25 messages on one page) looks like. FYI: for example - if you see that you like # 3, you click #3 and it will jump to #3 (see way below) for full description / information.. then you click on the email address to contact the person directly. Offer means = person is offering. Wanted means you want something. Taken means someone had taken it already. Those are the 3 things you must use in the header and in the message body.

taken: cordless panasonic phone (edison)

this has been taken, thanks.

hi, i have a Panasonic cordless phone. it has a built in answering
machine. it's somewhat old (i think i got it back somewhere between
2000-2002?) but it worked great the last time i used it and was packed
away in a box when i moved and completely forgot about it. i threw
the battery away as it looked the sticker that (i think) keeps the
battery together/closed was starting to peel and i didn't want it to
leak. i DO have the charger and power supply (what you plug in to the
outlet). if anyone is interested, please let me know when you think
you would be able to come and pick this up if you get it. also allow
at least 1 day for me to get to the messages since i don't have much
time on the computer lately. thanks.

Wanted - Multiplication flash cards - Piscataway
Posted by: "J W" ecwmmom@msn.com jmapw66
Tue Feb 19, 2008 5:40 pm (PST)
My son is starting to learn his times tables and his teacher feels flash cards are a great tool to help them learn.

The ones I'd hoped to get are out of stock at the dollar store and I don't like the ones Wal-Mart had, so I'd see if any of you may have some your kids no longer need.

Not looking to travel too far, looking to p/u in Piscataway, Highland Park, Edison, Metuchen, Fords, Woodbridge and nearby areas.

Thanks in advance,

Jennifer
