The dark shroud of loneliness wraps its wings around my self contentment! *The cruel face in the darkness can't be seen but I know that it is smiling. *The piercing of it's stare is the only evidence of it's wanting gaze upon me. * * **

The piercing chill I feel...
My dead wife's comb
in my bedroom
under my heel...

Sounds a little like Edgar Allan........

I am off today so I have some time to play. I present to you a haiku
by Taniguchi Buson (1716-1783) that has stuck in my mind for decades.
Perhaps someone on the list will give us a literal translation of the
Japanese.

Mi ni shimu ya
Naki tsuma ni kushi wo
Neya ni fumu.

The English translation that I like:

The piercing chill I feel:
My dead wife's comb, in our bedroom,
Under my heel.

Lol, I thought so too. I didn't create that, by the way. I read something like that LONG ago. Sorry, I was pulling your leg. Forgive me.
No need to say sorry. It's ok. I liked it. I post sad and dark things at times just as a way to vent out bad feelings. Better out than in I always say. lol Also reading sad creations of others can offer a little bit of positivity too. At least it can make you feel like you're not alone in the world. You wanna read a song I wrote a couple years ago?

******* **** * "About a mile"
*
*
**** My heart was used for a scratching post
To satisfy an itch of a woman
**** Cause she took the love I gave her
And she threw it to the floor
And said that she doesn't want me
No not anymore
No not anymore
*
**** She told me I couldn't call her phone
She would miss me, but she would not answer
**** So she leaves me all alone
To drown in my own tears
And now that she doesn't want me
I've realized my greatest fear
All alone out here
*
**** So now I think she is better off
Without a stupid-ass, no-good loser
**** And sense I'll never want another
And she'll never take me back
I came through the woods to the trussell
And sit down on the tracks
Cross legged on the tracks
*
**** Cause what good is my life to me
Without her I just don't even need it
**** So I listen for the whistle
While I think about her smile
The end is finally coming
It sounds like about a mile
It sounds like about a mile

Since we're talking about sad things I have another poem... One of my deaf friends told me that I push all my friends away. And since I've ruined a few friendships in the last month I believe she was right. I wrote this over a year ago...

********* "My life"
*
My life is a ship on the *Bearing Sea
**** Only friend a cold icey water
No visitors could come and see me
**** That's the way I planed so here I loiter

I wrote this today to my brother's girlfriend. She has too much insecurity, and it is driving my brother away...

Think of a loved one as a butterfly. When you allow it to land softly on your hand, it graces you with delicate beauty. When you try to hold it tightly, it cannot fly. The wings become useless, and it dies. A butterfly without wings is not beautiful. A flower without petals is not beautiful. Watch the butterfly in the garden. It flutters about from flower to flower. When a butterfly finds the right flower, it will rest on the petals, and it is a wonderful sight to behold. The flower gives the butterfly nourishment, and the butterfly spreads the pollen. They give each other life. The same thing with true love; it is both beautiful and life-giving.

At your request Midnight...

************ "A walk in the grass"***
*
*
**** I walk in the grass sun bright and shiny
Here beneath it I feel so tiny
**** Looking up at the clouds set high in the sky
Wind at my back I step onto the breeze
**** Up through the air and away I fly
To sit on a perch of pillowy ease
*
**** Cross legged on the edge high above the land
Extending arm to catch a cloud in my hand
**** Positioned just so I lay back and recline
And lay here looking straight up at the blue
**** What is this?* A cloud loftier mine?
One higher and faster has come into view
*
**** Sitting up to survey the scene
Clouds below obscure where I've been
**** Horizons are gone as I pear all around
Encroaching clouds of various shape and size
**** Surrounding me now.* I refuse to go down
That one cloud above...* That one cloud is my prize
*
**** Rolling flat at the edge pointing face to below
One deep breath and up I go as I blow
**** As I rise up the the heights of the highest cloud
I also rise up to my hands and feet
**** Preparing myself in a quadruped bow
Poised and ready...* Ready to leap
*
**** Springing froward with cat like quickness
Landing on a slope of cottony thickness
**** Sliding to the base of a mountainous cloud
Riding the air where the wind has no sound
**** I climb to the top and shout aloud
"Farther up...* Up there I am bound!"
*
**** On top of the world I pull myself to my knees
Out here solar flares are the only breeze
**** Warming my face as I rise to my feet
Looking down at the earth I feel pretty tall
**** Seeing it lit with life sustaining heat
It spins as I walk like a circus bear on a ball
*
**** Look at the moon.* It's right over there
Think I'll sit back down and use the Earth as my chair
**** Propping my feet on a lunar stool
Looking out at the stars away from the sun
**** Spinning around like a tube in a pool
I got an idea!* I know what would be fun!
*
**** The moon!* Its face all covered with cavities
I'll use it as a springboard and give into gravity
**** Diving towards the sun and picking up speed
Like a comet racing to a near death
**** Whether flying or falling it's very fast indeed
Inhaling me closer I feel the pull of the sun's hot breath
*
**** Whipping around like a carnival ride
One finger stretched out across the surface it glides
**** Like scraping the icing from a spherical cake
Then flinging me outward I shoot into space
**** Leaving behind that fiery lake
Racing with speeds of unparalleled pace
*
**** Zipping right past Mercury and Mars
Using Alpha Centauri I swing into the stars
**** Hand over hand like a monkey in a tree
The rim of the Milky Way it seems I have found
**** Riding on the edge of the galaxy
The view keep changing on this marry go round

**** Shining lights from a mirror ball
All different colored galaxies spin and revolve
**** On this milky platform I break into a dance
To the music in my head I twirl and slide
**** Like a ball room dancer only more enhanced
With grace and poise across the stars I glide
*
**** What began in the grass on a sunny day
Has taken me to heights far far away
**** With lofty ambition
And a will that drives
**** There is no opposition
Between you and the skies

Thank you Daniel....smile..you have redeemed yourself..laughing..Peace to you
Thank you!! Lol I am a happy person just my writing doesn't always reflect that. We all have mood changes. I just write about mine. Since earlier poems were about love lost here's one about live found...

** * * * * * * * * "Why don't you?"
*
*
** * I first saw you from way across the grass
White blouse and an orange skirt touched by the breeze
** * Swinging this way and that from your shapely hour glass
Right then... In that moment! My heart was seized
** * Later that same day you touched my knee
Under the table in that cute little skirt
** * It took all the breath away from me
To be the target of your flirt
** * Was this subtle touch a deliberate action?
I hoped like hell it was mutual attraction
** * What I felt inside was shear confusion
You by my side had to be illusion
*
** * Many hours later I finally got to see
My heart was in my throat when I walked in the room
** * I played dumb and turned on the stupid TV
And acted like I forgot you were in there too
** * You were curled up on your side laying in my bed
You said sense you couldn't sleep I could and stay and talk
** * You knew all the things that were going through my head
When I sat beside you and crossed that line of chalk
** * I said I might just touch you if I sit so near
You said "Why don't you?"
** * I said if I touch I might just kiss your ear
You said "Why don't you?"
** * I said if I kiss you we might end up in love
You said "Why don't you?"
** * The rest is history, a gift from up above

Thanks. I don't write a lot. I need to be inspired, then the words flow. I feel a bit of inspiration right now...

Dancing together, And so it starts,
Rhythm provided by Beating Hearts.

Smiles fixed, Our eyes wide,
Love will take us for a ride.

Our lips part, breathing deep,
Dreams begun before we sleep.

Mouths embrace, tongues swirl,
Ground beneath us begins to twirl.

Bodies melt, Two become one,
The dance of Life has begun.

Private touches we begin to trade,
Rest of the world begins to fade.

I thank God for the ability to love,
My beautiful woman; a gift from above.
