Hey everybody, Im looking for the sign for "excuse".

NOT like "excuse me", but like "You have a lot of excuses", "she always has an excuse", etc.

I havent been able to find it anywhere, can you guys help me out?

Thanks,

Teg

In this context, I would use the sign for 'reason'.

Altho, ITPJohn is right to say "reason" as a good alternative, the fact remains that the vast majority of deaf ASL users use the same sign for both "excuses". I don't think it's right but that's the way it is and it really isn't that difficult to ascertain what is meant because the meaning is gleaned out of context.

it depends...
for the temporal aspects
sign 'excuse' repeatedly .. depends on the temporal aspects. [certain repeated movements to indicate things like how long an action lasts or how often the actions occur. 'for a long time/ long time/ regularly' ]

noun/verb pair
verb - "Excuse me" - you only do once
noun - excuse do 2 times

hope that helps.
