Anyone else with endometriosis?

If yes...what do you do for it? I got dx'd this when I had appendicitis and I'm in pain ALL the time. I am still waiting to see a specialist and I've been told I most likely need surgery to get rid of all the tissue build up as well. At least they can use my incisions from my appendectomy which is a plus.

Wirelessly posted

My brothers wife has it. She can't have children due she has so much scarring that it really messed her up inside. She had a couple of surguries to have some removed.

Had a friend who had it also, she had surgery. Have heard it is very painful.

I had it and underwent the laparoscopic surgery for it.

Most of the pain is backache, and tight chest, but there are no pain down there. Achy pain sets in a few hours after I am awake from the surgery.

For me, it felt hurts to breathe deep, and it hurts to lying down, even in bed, for about two days. Stay still and sit upright or just stand up helps a lot. To sleep, I'd sit in chair at the table, put pillow on table and laying my head on it and sleeps.

If I had to have surgery again, I'd do it, it is not so terrible bad, but tolerable. Post-lumbar puncture(spinal tap) headache is much worse! That's just me.

Bonus outcome is no painful PMS and menstruation.

Best of luck to you. I hope it will goes well for you.

I don't mind having to do the surgery to get rid of all the extra tissue build up but I won't get a hysterectomy to get rid of the pain altogether. I know I can have issues getting pregnant but I don't want to give up on that chance altogether. I'm in SO much pain right now that it's ridiculous..even with the pain meds I was given today... :(

Have you met with reproductive endocrinologist(RE)/IVF specialist?

For instance, I know endometriosis can block fallopian tubes, but RE can extract egg directly from ovaries, combined it with your parnters, then implant it back into your uterus.

If you are young, in your 20's, and having some financial resources, and I would look into oocyte cryopreservation aka egg freezing because I know endometriosis could recurs, damaging tissues further and reduce fertility.

Don't give up.

I have my first appt with my obgyn next week. I am not even married let alone engaged yet so I wouldn't be able to talk about getting pregnant yet with my bf. I also wouldn't be able to afford to freeze my eggs. It's crazy expensive here in canada- 6 grand to get my eggs frozen. I definitely don't have that kind of cash lying around unfortunately :( Some stuff like parts of IVF are covered but many aren't in my province.

My aunt has it. They were looking for it in me because I would have horrible cramps that would keep me home and in tears every month. Turns out I just have really bad cramps for no good reason. I had to have a transvaginal ultrasound, take a bunch of different pills (birth control pills will keep it in check for many people. They did help my cramping but the don't sit well in my stomach.), change my diet, etc, etc...

I hope you have good news when you go. It's a scary thing to be up against. Depending on where it is it can affect your fertility but it really depends on where it is. If it is found on your bowels, it shouldn't affect your fertility. My aunt couldn't carry children because of the extensive scarring on her uterus.

Hang in there. Good luck.
