I am not even sure if this is the right place to put this question, but I'll give it a shot. I live in KY and there is this program called 'Hear Now' which helps provide hearing aids to people (like me) who can't afford them. The problem is that my husband is a little suspicious that this may be a scam because in order to even apply for the program, you have to pay $200 ($100 for each aid). You have to pay this whether or not you turn out to be eligable and it is not refundable. Now, this wouldn't be such a problem if (a) $200 dollars wasn't so precious right now and (b) if they didn't make such a big deal about the fact that they will not return it. This makes my husband think they will take the money and say we aren't eligable (basically you have to be poor enough to qualify). We are pretty low on financal resources right now and could really use the help paying for these aids. Does anyone know if this is a legit program or not? I'm not saying that they have to qualify everyone...just worried that they collect on the $200 and then claim the applicant is not eligable. Can you help?
