To be honest here, that has nothing to do with the dirty emoticons , it all about posting dirty pictures, words etc in other threads which it should have kept in the ' Penisarium forum ', that is the reason why I created that thread in the first place... :thumb:

No problem, I'm glad you brought up that thread! :thumb:

Well, for my children, they will not have access to any web sites unless I am around, beside my children knows that they will have to wait until the age of 18 to access most of the web sites....

The only problem I'm worry about is when I'm on line and having to be caution when my children are around me because of the dirty emoticons, dirty photos, etc.....

These kids are gonna have to understand these things anyway. I'd rather my kids see these things and ask me about it than they not seeing anything at all until they are 18.

sorry but not my children!

I thought Alex PMed me to write a final post to this. Thanks a lot for not doing so. That's nice to say something and not do anything.

I think there should be an effort made. At least try to make a program to make it available to the Penisarium users only or a way to turn it off, so others who like it can enjoy the dirty ones.

Boys will always be boy.

The one big problem here at NTID is that many kids have been overly-protected by their parents. The longer their parents kept them from things outside, the more crazier they became when they finally enter NTID. There have been incidents at EYF where kids got in trouble with porn magazines and videos as well as sleeping with another. Just recently, they lost one girl and spent hours running around the dorms and having everyone evacuate the building... only to find out that she was actually next door sleeping with another girl! She was so deprived of her sexuality while growing up that it became a big thing when she visited NTID for EYF. I have viewed the statistics from RIT through Campus Safety. Know what the stastistics show? NTID students have a very high (yes, higher than hearing students) rate of problems and crimes. They get in trouble with theft, rape, harassment, drugs, alcohol, etc. I've talked to some students who go "Hehehe! Whoa! Awesome! Wow! Amazing!" at the sight of cartoons getting it on. I even saw one guy laughing his ass off at these emoticons because he never thought it was possible and he's never actually seen ANY hint of anyone getting it on while he lived at home with his parents. His parents had his AOL account set up at the highest level of security meaning he only gets emails from people that his parents approve, views websites that only AOL approves, and enters kids only chat room as well as public chat rooms. When he first peeked in here with me, he was like, "OMG! These people are that open-minded!? Wow! That's amazing!" I patted his back and shook my head in disgust as I understood that he's gonna have a hard time with school. Sadly, it did come out to be true. Now, he's got restraining orders by several girls and people call him a pervert. He's a compulsive masturbator. No one likes him. That's one sad little boy. This has happened not only to him but several other NTID students as well. I had one guy yelling for me just so he could show me these naughty emoticons in another forum. He got so excited and wild as if he'd never seen them before. :(

That story makes me laugh a little, but I am not like that one "little boy." My mother's overprotective somehow. She does not want me to see any sexual images online. She gripes about it when it pops on her e-mail as Spam EVERY time. I tell her to get over it, and just change e-mails. She thinks reporting it or whatever will improve it. I told her that it doesn't. They'll always keep changing e-mails and send it. I think she is scared that I may see them and stuff, but I already have...what can I do? I am disgusted as well because I did not invite those e-mails to get in there for any reason. She never limited my internet use like that, but I have been exposed once in a while to certain things that are like oops. Believe me, I have seen things online at a younger age. Some things are unpreventable, but I don't believe in exposing children anytime of their age or a lot. I think there needs to be a certain age when kids can begin seeing or understanding things. I am glad I did not know sex things until a later age because it traumatize me somewhat once I knew about it. I was a child and very innocent. I remembered when once my mom told me why a guy was laughing at us when we were eating ice cream cones. Once she told me about it, I never eat ice cream cones anymore. I use a cup instead, but my mother doesn't and she wasn't exposed to those things until a later age than I did. It's because of time difference from when she grew up and me.

One girl (hearing) was 11 asking if she should have sex because all these online things seems pleasuring. It gives her the idea to try it. She did not know what those white shooting thing were. She says her mom doesn't know because she has her own computer. Now, that's where you draw a limit. What's a little girl asking online strangers about whether or not she should have sex? Some disturbed little world....

I am not sure why it means "open-minded" about those emoticons. I see that it is not normal especially in a deaf forum that mostly is not about sex. Many people would rather keep those things private. Maybe it's some of the young generation gaps would rather be giggling about those things and find it so funny when I think it's a private matter and to be enjoyed at your own choice and time. Why is there a penisarium board, but then those emoticons are not apart like that? What's the difference?

It's not only deaf children that are overprotected. There are crazy people in college campuses having sex with anyone and experimenting all the time. Partying all the time in other colleges as well. Does that mean that I am crazy for not trying to get involved along "with the crowd?" To some people...maybe...whatever.

LMAO good one

I agree. LOL LOL I couldn't help but giggle at the list...

I dunno if some of the obscene smilies should be banned or not, cos it doesn't bother me and we're living in the age of information superhighway... children will always be exposed to obscene gestures, images, and words online anywhere else if NOT AD. It's up to the parents to do all the responsible restriction, and to do damage control. The best thing is to prepare the kid as best you can, with a good perspective on these things. Can't hide from 'em forever.

I always tell my friends... "If you don't like it, don't do it." It's like those Playboy magazines in the bookstore. If you don't like those Playboy magazines, don't buy them. They have gun stores. If you don't like guns, don't go there. There are a lot of things in this world that many of us don't like, but we all have to learn to deal with it and/or ignore it. There are a lot of things I don't like at RIT, but I'm still here and doing fine. :thumb:

Same here...if I came across an offensive photo or emoticon -- I simply just ignore it...it's best that way rather than dwelling on it and getting into a debate about it.

Unfortunately, this is true, Liza, and I agree with what you said. :)

With the way things are, kids are going to be exposed to things no matter what we do. I am not a parent (thank GOD lol), but I can attest to the fact that when I was growing up, my parents made sure that my sister and I DID NOT see things we shouldn't and what not. And, how did they do this? First of all, they gave us rules to follow and enforced harsh punishments if we went out of bounds. Secondly, my sister and I also had a BED TIME which we had to adhere to.

I'm a big proponent of bed times for kids. If you put the kids to bed, there's not a whole lot they can get into or see. LOL So, guys ...Stop this nonsense about banning things, and just follow common sense. If you don't like something on here, don't open it. If you don't like the emoticons, don't use 'em. And, if you have children around, access only those parts of A/D that are KID FRIENDLY and save the "adult viewing" for when they are in bed.

Enough said. :)

because some of dirty emoticons are sort of stupid. Maybe it is just me but I have a very limited choices in finding a right emoticons because more than half is sex-related. Wow, SEX emoticons.
WORD gnarlydorkette!!!! Some of the sex emoticons are funny....and I admit, I do visit another site with VERY unusual sex smilies. I don't mind one or two sex smilies. Even the conservative members wouldn't object too much to that.
However, why do we have to have smilies for virtually EVERY sex act in the book?

I would like to let everyone know that I will try to see if I can give my users an option to have certain group of smilies disabled/enabled on AllDeaf. I understand how some people feel about certain smilies, and I will try to work something out, but I cannot promise that this will be done (it depends on the programming involved and I'm no PHP guru).

We deleted :mynigga: last January. I knew this was gonna happen. If we are going to keep deleting one-by-one, we might as well delete the whole thing. I see nothing pornographic about them. You see your baby banging two tennis balls together, are you going to stop him/her because he/she is mimicking two smilies having sex?

Good comment... pornographic is everywhere... it's on tv...

But the :mynigga: is correct for deletion due to racial discrimination.

Immature? Whinner?...

Let me say this please, HelloKitty has every right to create this thread, and Alex did said it was up to the members on this, so she decided to do this poll, I don't even see it as being a ' whinner ' or ' immature' when every one of us has the right to express our view on things we don't feel is right...If you don't like this thread then don't bother posting it in here, I'm getting tired of your attitude towards other members...Say something nice or don't say it at all ....
