NOTE: I just got this from email today.

Thought you might be interested in this forgotten bit of information....

It was 1987! At a lecture the other day they were playing
an old news video of Lt. - Col. Oliver North testifying
at the Iran-Contra hearings during the Reagan Administration.

There was Ollie in front of God and country getting the
third degree, but what he said was stunning!

He was being drilled by a senator; "Did you not recently
spend close to $60,000 for a home security system?"

Ollie replied, "Yes, I did, Sir."

The senator continued, trying to get a laugh out of the audience,
"Isn't that just a little excessive?"

"No, sir," continued Ollie.

"No? And why not?" the senator asked.

"Because the lives of my family and I were threatened, sir."

"Threatened? By whom?" the senator questioned.

"By a terrorist, sir" Ollie answered.

"Terrorist? What terrorist could possibly scare you that much?"

"His name is Osama bin Laden, sir" Ollie replied.

At this point the senator tried to repeat the name, but couldn't pronounce it, which most people back then probably couldn't. A couple of people laughed at the attempt. Then the senator continued.
Why are you so afraid of this man?" the senator asked.

"Because, sir, he is the most evil person alive that I know of", Ollie answered.

"And what do you recommend we do about him?" asked the senator.

"Well, sir, if it was up to me, I would recommend that an assassin team be formed to eliminate him and his men from the face of the earth."

The senator disagreed with this approach, and that was all that was shown of the clip.

By the way, that senator was Al Gore!

Also:
Terrorist pilot Mohammad Atta blew up a bus in Israel in 1986. The Israelis captured, tried and imprisoned him. As part of the Oslo agreement with the Palestinians in 1993, Israel had to agree to release so-called "political prisoners."

However, the Israelis would not release any with blood on their hands, The American President at the time, Bill Clinton, and his secretary of state, Warren Christopher, "insisted" that all prisoners be released.

Thus Mohammad Atta was freed and eventually thanked the U.S. by flying an airplane into Tower One of the World Trade Center. This was reported by many of the American TV networks at the time that the terrorists were first identified.
It was censored in the US from all later reports.

This has been kept alive and moving since 9/11. In memory of all those who perished this morning; the passengers and the pilots on the United Air and AA flights, the workers in the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, and all the innocent bystanders. Our prayers go out to the friends and families of the deceased.
 
Now I wonder whats happening with Oliver North lately ?
 
Yea, I remember that one, but wow Osama? Now, see why I never like Democrats! These Republicians have to clean up Democrat's mess and gets blamed! RME!
 
So, I guess that Oliver North has been tellin' the truth all along ? Hmm....

And, yes I find this very interestin'. Would like to know what's up with him and his life nowdays ?
 
Whoa.. i did not realize.. i did faintly remembered about Ollie North.... what becomes of him now????

Political Scandal Figure / Radio Personality

A decorated platoon leader in the Vietnam War, Oliver North began working in the White House for the National Security Council in 1981, eventually becoming deputy director for Political-Military Affairs in the Ronald Reagan administration. In 1986 it was revealed that a secret U.S. operation had been selling military equipment to Iran, in exchange for the release of U.S. hostages, and that money from the arms sales was being illegally diverted to help anti-socialist forces (called Contras) in Nicaragua. From May until August of 1987 the Iran-Contra scandal and its televised hearings put the spotlight on North, who donned his uniform and admitted that he acted illegally, but out of patriotism. His felony convictions were eventually overturned, and depending on who's talking, North was either a traitorous drug smuggler or a national hero who saved Central America from communism. North remains in the public eye as a conservative political pundit and media personality: he has written his own syndicated column, headed the radio program Common Sense Radio, and hosted the Fox News program War Stories. His war novels, written with Joe Musser, include Mission Compromised (2002), Jerico Sanction (2003) and Assassins (2005).

I did see this before long time ago! my old friend from florida sent me too and then sent to my dad. I KNOW! HE KNOWS HELL... Possibly he will become US President if he decides to run.

I DON'T KNOW WHO SAW WHAT VIDEO "AT UNC." (OR ANYWHERE ELSE) BUT, FOR THE RECORD, HERE'S WHAT I DO KNOW:

4. I NEVER SAID I WAS AFRAID OF ANYBODY. I DID SAY THAT I WOULD BE GLAD TO MEET ABU NIDAL ON EQUAL TERMS ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD BUT THAT I WAS UNWILLING TO HAVE HIM OR HIS OPERATIVES MEET MY WIFE AND CHILDREN ON HIS TERMS.

7. AND, FYI: THOSE FEDERAL AGENTS REMAINED AT OUR HOME UNTIL I RETIRED FROM THE MARINES AND WAS NO LONGER A "GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL." BY THEN, THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT HAD SPENT MORE THAN $2M PROTECTING THE NORTH FAMILY. THE TERRORISTS SENT TO KILL US WERE NEVER RE-APPREHENDED.

The terrorist North mentioned in his testimony was not Osama bin Laden, however. To the extent that bin Laden was known to the western world in 1987, it was not as a "terrorist" but as one of the U.S.-backed "freedom fighters" participating in the war against the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. Osama bin Laden's hatred of the U.S. and conversion to "terrorist" status is not believed to have come about until the Gulf War of 1990-91, when he was outspokenly critical of Saudi Arabian dependence upon the U.S. military and denounced U.S. support of a "corrupt, materialist, and irreligious" Saudi monarchy. (The Saudi Arabian government stripped bin Laden of his citizenship in 1994 for his funding of militant fundamentalist Islamic groups.)

Osama Bin Laden was backed by the US government as a freedom fighter back in 1987.

They didn't see him as a terrorist till the Gulf War.
 
By the way, an e-mail should never be used as a source. Period.

It's unreliable, you have to back it up by using different sources.

Yes, I did read this thoroughly. Hmm, I was thinking
of a partial piece of North's Truth about the word "Terrorist"
He was trying to protect his family from a Terrorist
(unfortunately somehow someone changed/added
the specific name Osama, sigh)

You are right that we are not supposed to
believe everything we read. Again, I sometimes
wonder if Snopes is 100% correct ? I doubt.

I recalled after North got into trouble, then he started
his own business locally to produce/distribute bulletproof vests
BUT, I am NOT sure if he still continue this or not.

One of my brothers used to work for North's company
making these bulletproof vests. They even asked
my brother to be a part-time Model wearing
these bullet proof vests sometimes, but
his primary job is to manufacture these
bulletproof vests. I'm always so proud
of my own Deaf brother being a Model with
these bulletproof vests They chose him
because he's very Handsome and Humble.

I will get back to you later if I happen to find out
what's happening with him at the most current status.
 
I seen him seldomly on tv show talking about war history and stuff like that.

By the way, ain't that so interesting about his security part due to Bin back in 1987 - almost 20 years ago. A war prophetic? lol
