that not good! What you thought this story?

Wow. Aside from the fact they killed their child, this just does not make any sense. They can't even hear the child, so what was the point?

:( wish this won't have to happen. Reading the news, I am not clear on this one.

Being parents is not easy job, if you don't have kids.. you have no idea what it is like to be parent and if you can't handle stress, don't have kids!

This isn't first time I heard, I felt bad for one of my friend whose Deaf and having a blind baby. They are going tough times.

The problem with being Deaf parents is that its harder to identify what the baby needs. Sometimes simple hug could stop crying, other feeding, or diaper needs, not all crying sounds the same. Hearing people have the advantage of ability to identify what baby needs and take care of it.

Beating baby is not acceptable anyway.

Neither parent can hear or speak, but according to police documents the father confessed through an interpreter to beating their only child because she wouldn’t stop crying.

‘My understanding is they feel vibrations and some noise, so they could tell the infant was crying,’ police Sgt. Kevin Perlich told Dallasnews.com.

wow.... I feel bad for interpreter.... I can't imagine how hard it is for her to do this job...

Watch out for those minor vibrations... I bet these two think much higher of hearing parents.

A DEAF couple have been charged in the beating death of their five-month-old daughter

Hector Rene Cupich-Quinones, 35, and Maria Guadalupe Zuniga, 37, of Richardson, Texas, have been arrested and charged in the death of their baby. Both parents are deaf and mute, America's ABC News reports.

Richardson Police Sgt. Kevin Perlich told ABCNews.com: "They could sense when the child was upset and crying."

Cupich-Quinones has been charged with capital murder and Zuniga has been charged with injury to a child.

Richardson police responded to a report of an unresponsive child around 5:30am (local time) on Sunday. When they arrived, the father had the child in his arms and the baby was "pale, not breathing, and had bruises on her arms," according to a police search warrant.

The officer performed CPR until paramedics arrived and took the child to a hospital. The hospital reported that the child had suffered "massive trauma to back of the head, bruising to the child's back, chest, and both arms".

I don't know why them being deaf is so unique that it makes the news. Losers kill their children all the time and they come from all walks of life.

And they make the news too.

This is of interest on a deaf forum. If you don't understand it's because of the interconnectedness of this world. People know people.

People gossip. It's a bit like a small town.

It's human nature. It's the same reason deaf people do show interest in learning a famous person is deaf also, which is something else you wondered about.

Seems alcohol was the factor here....Both drunk...so who's supposed to take care of an infant if both parents are drunk?...Hope the Judge throws the book at them...deaf or not....

Awful. :( I feel too pity for the baby. Deaf parents need to understand what crying baby is, and kindly take care of a baby.

There should be an Eye for an eye rule for all crimes. Whatever the people did to the victims should get back exactly the same way. I bet there would be less crimes this way. Don't ya think?

Yes, they went to drinking and not know about how many drink they drank.

When I was baby, my parent barely drink alcoholic beverage, usually one beer in one day. 1987 is better than in 2013? :hmm:

No, I think it just depends on the people. I certainly wasn't drinking when my kids were babies, and now my kids have their own babies and aren't out getting drunk.

Some people just don't have the proper sense of responsibility, no matter what time in history.

Yea, I can't imagine doing that. Sure, I like to drink but not with an infant. I guess they either didn't care or just made poor decisions to drink. It is sad but there will always be parents who should never have children.

Minor vibrations?? You say it like deaf people don't feel or know the stress of a crying baby. The anxiety is the same. Knowing the child is crying by seeing tears, face expressions, tension and more. I do not excuse those two morons for beating and killing this child. But deaf people do know when their child is crying.

These "parents" were not kids, either....35 and 37 years old....and I do hope the book is thrown at them by the Judge....in jail...they can sit and think over what they have done...without a drop of alcohol....facing reality for a crime such as this must be pretty horrific....

Not sure what the law in Texas re: murder entails-death penalty/life imprisonment?
Horrific-to say the least-murdering your own child-crying!
