All,
Two things about me that are important for this post...
First, I spent many a years already living in New Orleans and much of my family is still there... Well - everyone there wants the rest of us to return to the nest - and I'm very happy to do that. I'm very excited!
Second - I've recently passed my RID/NIC test and am looking to see what the Deaf culture/interpreting scene is like down there - I came back to Pittsburgh in 2003 and having lived there since.
Since 2003 I've been in college, graduated with a certification (from Univ of Pittsburgh) in ASL/Deaf culture and now have my NIC from RID, I've been teaching in a deaf school in Pittsburgh since 2008 and so have logged a solid 40+ hours a week for 5 years using ASL...
I'm excited to go back to where my home really is.
Many people on this board gave me good advice on studying for my exam - how is Nola treating the Deaf culture/Interpreting scene?
