Color Tdd

I think in this day and age of high technology, there is NO REASON for tdd's to be so expensive whatsoever when there are so many alternatives that work just as well or better.

I'm another online relay person as well.

Demand and supply, remember that...the more demand and the cheaper they are....that's how electronics are in general. They produce less than they usually do, so it cost more to sell them, you know.

I wouldn't throw your TTD out you guys. What I think is that the FCC is going to stop internet based relay. I know internet based relay has sdo many con artists getting in there. Why? Because it's free. Con artists from Africa are getting into Internet based relay and that makes up about 70% of IP relay calls. If they were to not answer these con artists they would go out of business. So I wouldn't be surprised if Internet relay go out of business. TTY is much safer and you have to pay long distance that why con artist don't bother with state relay. State relay is much better.

Where are you getting the "70%" figure from? I wouldn't be surprised if 10-20% was possible, but 70%? Come on.

Do you know you can get the total number of internet relay minutes online? You can't figure out the number of internet minutes per company, but the TOTAL internet relay minutes per month IS available. Want a link?

NECA page with Excel spreadsheet of Internet Relay minutes. It will ask if you want to open the Excel file.

What is NECA?

How do I understand this spreadsheet?

Everything before March 2004 is REAL IP relay minutes. Look at the left side "Actual Reported Minutes". March 2004, 5 MILLION minutes, in ONE MONTH. WHOA!

Now, how the HECK can 70% of 5 MILLION minutes be fraud? 3 MILLION minutes are people calling to defraud businesses? No way. I think maybe 500,000, if that, is possible.

Look at the right side of the spreadsheet:
March 2004: $7,000,000 (SEVEN MILLION DOLLARS)

Whoa! Why so much? 'Cause relay services aren't cheap for the government. Lookie here for an idea of what costs relay services run:
