Catholic Church blame sex abuse on society

Same here at the deaf school...using a private room, I and several of my schoolmates were abused and raped by priest. And this is a catholic school for the deaf. We were all to young to understand what was happening and I and the others thought, "If the priest and nuns are ok with it, it must be ok." This continued for years after I graduated (8 grade) and until the school was sued.

That's horrific....and I understand where you are coming from....The scars of this abuse will linger on and on, never to be forgotton.....forgiven (by "some" people), maybe...but never forgotton....We know that "some people just don't get it"...do they?

I was 4 years old when the abuse began to happen (not by a priest, tho')....and I'll be 65 years old come this November.....I can vividly tell you the exact spot it happened, how many times it happened...and my screams still are in my head!.......anything you want to know about this abuse!...Not very pleasant, I'll tell you!....

Sexual abusers are the scum of the earth....no matter if some "say"...well, they're just mentally ill....and..."the best thing for you to do is just FORGIVE & FORGET"!

Say what??....The son of a bitch is dead now. And if there is a HELL....he's still burning in it!...Do I believe our God forgave him?....Not a chance!...Do I forgive him?...HELL NO!

Peace be with you whenever/wherever you can find it....Keep up the "good fight" for those children that cannot fight for themselves....against "these animals".

PRIESTS' ACTIONS OUTRAGE DUTCH CHURCH

Cleric joined a group devoted to pedophila with boss's knowledge

Amsterdam--The Dutch Catholic Church and the Salesian order are investigating revelations that a Salesian priest served on the board of a group that promotes pedophila with the full knowledge of his boss.

The order's top official in the Netherlands, Delegate Herman Spronck, confirmed in a statement that the priest--identified by RTL Nieuws as 73-year-old "Father Van B."--served on the board of "Martijn," a group that campaigns to end the Dutch ban on adult-child sex.

The group is widely reviled but not outlawed.

"Society thinks these relationships are harmful. I disagree," RTL quoted Van B.as saying. He served on Martijn's board from 2008 until 2010, when its founder was arrested for alleged possession of child pornography.

Van B.told RTL he remains a member of Martijn and now lives in a retirement home in eastern Netherlands.

In a second interview,RTL quoted Spronck as saying he was aware of Van B.'s pedophilia and membership in Mastijn, even of two instances where the priest had been fined by police for exposing himself in public. But he said he didn't think that was sufficient reason to ban him from the order.

Spronck added that adult-child sexual relations do not necessarily have to be damaging, including with children as young as 12.

Thousands of past cases of alleged sexual abuse by Dutch priests are under investigation.

Doesn't surprise me. Many 'higher ups' look the other way to keep from having drama and a 'bad image' on their church. I know this all too well. You can report it, they say they will take care of it, but they never do. 30 days after I told another member of the abuse, he wasn't being removed, he was simply being moved to another church, but resigned completely from the ministry within 6 months. This happened almost 9 years ago. I found out a year ago that this man has since returned to the ministry and shows absolutely NO REMORSE for what he has done and has even met with new preachers from our church at evangelism conferences to share 'his side of the story' voluntarily. From what I am told, it is obvious he has no plans to apologize and has no plans to 'repent'. He is going on as though nothing ever happened.

I am not sure what I would do if I ever came across him again now. Part of me would want to nail him right in the jaw and the other part of me just says he's not worth it and it's best to just walk away. Yet I don't want to walk away knowing he's likely abused others by now.

Looks like all of the covering up and looking away is biting the Catholics in the butt instead of them dealing with this issue promptly years ago. And it's also pretty weaksauce of them to blame the society for the sex abuses rather than on themselves. Very bad PR image for the Catholics and the Papacy, indeed.

If I am not mistaken, doesn't Pope Benedict have to approve all of the PR/media articles? I believe he can give a directive on how he wants the church to deal with this issue exactly, but I feel that he's also in on the coverup as I read somewhere that he knew of abuse running rampant even before he became a Cardinal - years before Pope John Paul passed away. (BTW - I think Pope John Paul was the best Pope the Catholic Church had in eons, but maybe he wasn't made aware of the abuse like Pope Benedict has).

If Pope Benedict is approving these 'methods' or 'messages' about how the Catholic Church is dealing with the abuse, then he is in for a long hard road and he will continue to lose Catholics by the thousands worldwide to Protestant denominations, the most surprising is the largest amount of Catholic to Protestant converts are Latin Americans joining the Pentecostal Church. I do know personally of 4 different Catholic to Southern Baptist converts.

Come on folks...it's not just the Catholic Church that has tried to cover up incidents of sexual abuse.

I thought I had made that point several posts back. I am living proof of this and I have never in my life ever been a Catholic. Even the SBC - The United States largest protestant denomination. It trails very closely behind Catholicism and just behind the SBC is the LDS.

Must have missed that. In that case, you are correct.:giggle:
