Police Keep Herschel, Dancy Streets Closed For 2 Hours Monday Morning
JACKSONVILLE, Fla, -- Police kept Herschel and Dancy streets closed for two hours Monday morning after a television set with, "You will die watching television," scrawled across it was found in the street.
The TV was turned on its side in the middle of the Herschel Street with duct tape attached, wires hanging out and the message spray painted on it.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office's bomb squad was called just before 6 a.m. The television was detonated as a precaution.
"In today's society, with the way things are, we don't take any chances," Lt. Richard Elins said. "We notified our units. They came out and rendered it safe."
Police cleared the scene before 8 a.m. and all streets in the area reopened.
While leaving a TV in the street is a violation, police don't have any suspects of who placed it there, so no charges are pending.
