My 7yo DD was just diagnosed with auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder (ANSD).
She has always been HOH and wears hearing aids. She had an ABR at 3yo that seemed normal for 40-50db hearing loss. Yesterday she flatlined the test, resulting in the new diagnosis. She has some hearing, but that it is not being transmitted properly in her brain, resulting in the bad ABR.
I've been reading like crazy about ANSD and it definitely explains her behaviors (not always wanting her aids, hating loud places like stores, and being completely non-verbal). What I really would like are some first hand experiences. Since my DD can't communicate what she is "hearing" I would like to know from some one else what ANSD is like.
