Remember the Dad on the Christmas movie "A Christmas Story" with Ralphie? The one who loved the prize which is a leg lamp in the movie? The actor who played him was Darren McGavin. Darren McGavin had been in other movies and TV shows such as "Touched by an Angel".
Darren McGavin had died at age 83. Here's the link:

Thank You for posting this as I did not know he had passed....A Christmas Story is one of my all time favorites from when I was a kid (and I make it a point to watch it every year).
 
I remember " The Christmas Story " That was a good movie....

I do remember who he is and the movie you (Nancy) described--indeed, the movie itself is always good to watch, no matter how many times one sees it. Anyhow, Rest in Peace Darren--
 
Yes I was shocked and sad about Darren's die.. This is my favourite movie called Kolack: The Night Stalker.. Rest in Peace xxxx :sadwave:
