This was shared with me by David Anthony, instigator of the SEE1 signs.

Two brothers, one (DB) is deaf, sitting on a train going from London to Southampton. The hearing (HB) brother is sitting in the aisle seat, the deaf brother by the train window.

Across the aisle from the HB sits an older Englishman reading his newspaper. A conversation starts between the hearing brother (HB) and the Englishman (EM)....

HB, "Where are you headed?". EM replies "To Southampton".

HB, "Do you live there?". EM, "No but I go there for the weekends".

At this point, the deaf brother (DB) asks his brother (HB) to interpret for him,
so the HB informs his DB of his conversation with the EM.

HB, injects "Well, if you spend time in Southampton, you may have heard of our famous Lady Chatterly (made famous in a book, Lady Chatterly's Lover, about a madam who operated a house of sexual sin).

EM, "Indeed I do, I debauch her body ((have sex) every weekend".

DB asks "What did (EM) have to say?

HB replies, "By jove, he knows mother!".

I hope you enjoy Brit humor. I did.
