Every couple wants a little luck on their wedding day.

The Revs. Amy Miller and Marnie Olsen will marry 77 couples on July 7, 2007, for the sheer luck of it.

"Couples have been interested in this date for the last year," Miller said. "We decided this was the very best way to help as many couples as possible have their dream wedding."

The two non-denominational ministers with the Universal Life Church, began brainstorming. They decided to have weddings all in one day, and to make it even luckier, they decided to marry 77 couples. They contacted casinos to host their event. None was interested in the lucky-in-love concept.

"We put it on hold for a while, though I knew we really had to do it," Miller said.

Miller then found a location at the Phoenix Zoo. They made reservations for the stone house pavilion and Ruby's House, named after one of the zoo's late elephants.

Their plan: to perform 40 private wedding ceremonies and one group wedding and vow renewal ceremony with 37 couples.

Miller will marry 20 couples in Ruby House while Olsen marries 20 in the pavilion, then the group wedding will follow.

"It's a novel date to have our wedding and anniversary on this day," said Laura Stupheit of Tempe. She and Brian McNamara have planned a big wedding in Rocky Point with family and friends, but they also will have a small private ceremony at the zoo. "What a luckier day than the seventh," she said.

The 40 private ceremonies will each cost $500 and will begin at 12:07 p.m. and end at 10:07 p.m. Couples who choose to go private can have up to 20 guests and will have a guitar soloist playing for the bride as she enters the room.

Mindy and Michael Fingtner from Ahwatukee Foothills will be renewing their vows in the group ceremony, which will begin at 11:07 p.m. at a cost of $250 per couple. Couples are allowed two witnesses.

Mindy said getting married in a group is kind of neat and thinks the Phoenix Zoo is a beautiful place to do so.

"I like the idea that the energy in the room will be filled with people who will be getting married or recommitting to each other," she said.

Said Olsen: "If people need 7-7-07 to motivate them into getting married, then we are all for it."

Cool, nice Phoenix Zoo is absolutely beautiful, and big park. Marry there with strangers..Not my type. I prefer to have my own dream wedding at private ceremony, not so big.

That's such a cool wedding date, its a once in a lifetime thing.
