    Question for Intrepreters

It really is a 4 year in the time of a 2 year. I went to school from 8AM to 6PM M,T,Th and W, F 8AM-9PM. But I took a certification in Deaf Culture as well as interpreter prep. (Which honestly you really need to have). The classes are intense. That doesn't mean they won't pass a bad terp tho...

Is "So You Want to Be an Interpreter?" still good?

It is disorganized but it's the best I've found. Good luck!. Interpreter training program is going to get her where she needs to go; and most likely they use that book.

OK I am researching day and night for this and reviewing my IEP notes to find out who said what when. I will fill out the complaint next week. Thank you so much. I just found this: Deaf Progressivism: How can ASL help English development? Chapter 1 (NALB) seems like a good vlog on...

My lawyer is all the way from Chicago (6 hours away) he is known for being knowledgeable about Sp Ed, special needs cases. Unfortunately he doesn't have a lot of experience with HoH/Deaf. I haven't located a lawyer within 6 hours that is. :( The next IEP meeting is in May (we just had one in...

She is my parents' child. I am her older sister. She was adopted from a poor orphanage. It is not going against her wishes; if you ask her if she wants to go to ISD she will say yes. If tell her she will need to stay there and not come home until the weekend she will start crying and say no.

Nothing to be skeptical about I could not reply immediately as I have two jobs, 8 younger siblings (many with special needs) that I help with and no internet access at my actual home. I am her older sister. She came and lived with my parents at the age of 1. Before that she had NO language...

    IEP help for 2nd grader

My baby's first language is ASL. She loves it. She has since became fluent in English: expressively of course receptively is difficult because of her hearing loss. She misunderstands EVERYthing which they are saying yes, is happening but not because of her hearing loss (ridiculous, I know. It...

    IEP help for 2nd grader

Thanks CSign I will check that site out. I've never heard of a compliance complaint. But they are stating that her hearing loss does not adversely effect her education which is the biggest problem. They even have the deaf/hoh resource woman saying that she is fine with only an FM system (she is...

    IEP help for 2nd grader

That is exactly the ONLY thing they are willing to give her. I advocate with research articles (PROOF) that sign language and can foundationally help with a child's academic performance. (Which I think is common sense! FULL exposure to language like ALL other kids get.) But my parents don't...
