    Help with ASL sentence structure?

I need to translate this passage into proper ASL format. I should know how to do this but the longer I look at it the bigger the blank in my brain. I thought if I got this first passage sorted, I'd be able to do the rest on my own. (It's about smoking a cigarette with my nose when I was 5)...

    Advice

that happens to me too. I know enough to hold a conversation on several topics, but when I meet a deaf person I get so nervous I forget half my signs and start fingerspelling- which I automatically fall back on because I learned it so long ago it's easy to pull back up. Its a work in...

    Deaf Groupies???

Exactly! You said what I was thinking. People learn ASL (or any other language) for a myriad of different reasons. If someone is learning French, people who are native speakers don't gather in a cluster all suspicious about why that person is trying to learn THEIR language. I kind of don't...

    Odd looks

Julietta, I would sign as I speak, but... doesn't that just confuse you in regards to ASL grammar? Like isn't it coming out as SEE and not ASL? If it doesn't affect your grammar, how on earth are you managing that?

What did you learn today? Part II

I learned that when I don't feel good I can't sleep, so I wind up surfing the net at 2:40 am with my puppy refusing to stop licking my toes.

Best FB status I've seen in a long time!!

lol I once was shooting a family, and my next family showed up a few minutes early, and I told the mom "I'll shoot Patricia first," and the six year old kid stumbled backwards, hand to her chest, "But Mommy, I don't want her to SHOOT me!!!" I had to reassure her that I was only going to take...

    Advice

stop trying to think of it in english terms with english rules. Its not english its a different language altogether. Once you stop trying to make it conform. or translate to the English you know, it will come easier. It is really hard to do, but not impossible, just keep working at it. With...

    Lifeprint

Lifeprint is pretty cool, I've been going through watching the videos all day today. I think I might end up just buying Dr. Bill's "Super Disk" for $20. It has everything on the site on it, including the vids and the fingerspelling app.
