Update on my son: 9.5 months old - now with CIs

Hi everyone. Some of you may remember me, some of you may not. You can check my posting history if you want. :) I just wanted to provide an update for those that are interested. If you're going to reply to this with something negative, please ignore that urge and move along. Thanks. My son...

update on my 9.5-week old son - now has HA's

Thanks Jenny. Yes we are dealing with Sick Kids, for the next 18 years or so hehe. It's a great hospital. Just wanted to mention, those feelings that i was feeling have long passed. I felt that way at the beginning, but it's not the beginning anymore. Thanks for your idea's though. :)

update on my 9.5-week old son - now has HA's

Thanks Cloggy, i really appreciate the support. It appears to be a very hard thing to get on this message forum when CI's are mentioned. To everyone else who is pushing ASL, i simply have one word for you, "no". That is not the direction that we are taking Evan in. This is our choice...

update on my 9.5-week old son - now has HA's

We're not being pushed in any direction, it comes down to what we want for Evan. We're going to focus on oral language right now, and if for some reason that doesn't work for him down the road he can always be taught sign language. As you know, the window for proper oral language is small, the...

update on my 9.5-week old son - now has HA's

Just because he doesn't necessarily respond to sound in speech frequencies, doesn't mean the learning process shouldn't start. My wife and i still need to learn how to teach Evan how to listen because the plan is to have CI's in the coming months. AVT is more about teaching us how to teach him...

We're looking at simultaneous implants. It seems to be the best route.

update on my 9.5-week old son - now has HA's

Hi everyone. I haven't written an update in a while. Evan is now 26-weeks old, and still wearing his HA's. He hasn't been showing positive response to them, as far as reaction to sound, ect. He wears them everyday, has some reaction, but his reaction is nowhere near where it should be. My wife...

update on my 9.5-week old son - now has HA's

Hi everyone. You may remember me from my other post about my then 2-month old son having severe hearing loss. He got his hearing aids last Friday. My wife and i noticed a change in him right away, but maybe we're nuts?!?! At the hearing aid place he was fussy as the tech was putting the...

    Help with Sharp Aquos TV

At the very bottom of the remote (the last 1.5"-2" of the remote) there is a part of the remote that lifts/flips up to access more buttons. The CC button is located there. I can provide a picture if you can't figure it out. :)

My 2-month old son has severe hearing loss

Hi everyone. Thanks for the replies so far. My wife and i still have lots of learning and reading to do. At this stage we're taking it 1 day at a time. He is only 9 weeks old, so i'm not concerned yet about sending him off to college. I'm going to continue reading and asking questions as...

My 2-month old son has severe hearing loss

Thanks to everyone for the replies so far. Let me provide a bit more information about our situation. He failed the new born screening test in the hospital twice, so they chalked that up to fluid in his ears and referred us to another testing facility. He was sent for another test at about...

My 2-month old son has severe hearing loss

Hi everyone, My wife and i just had a baby boy 2 months ago and he was recently diagnosed with severe hearing loss in both ears. It was a shock to both of us, but we're learning how to deal with it. Our baby boy Evan is being fitted with hearing aids this Friday (Feb 1). I just wanted to...
