    Hearing Aid Finally!!!

It takes from a few days to a few weeks, depends on the company and your audi. The whistling, it might be because your mold is loose, mine whistled a lot too until I got a new mold. Try that, it might help.

    Hearing Aid Finally!!!

Most BTE's have t-coil, and its usually the middle switch. It makes a HUGE difference, with both the phone AND FM. Your audi might give you the stuff, I'm not entirely sure. I do remember getting SOME things for my sumo ha but not everything like the rubber bulb, had to buy that a few years...

    Hearing Aid Finally!!!

For advice, as a college student, I would so strongly suggest not hiding it from your classmates when you get the HA's. If they ask questions, anwser them, mostly innocent questions. Don't forget to take them out before you pass out from studying all night. I did that once, and the next morning...

How do you deal with requests for sign name?

I had gotten my name sign from my ASL teacher. He too, told us that we should only get our name signs from deaf people. I however, gave a few of my best friends name signs because I was tired of fingerspelling "K-E-N-D-R-A" or "M-A-T-T-H-E-W" over and over again. My sign name is the letter K...

Advice on hoh first year university!!!

Why did she have to argue? Do you not have a special needs counsellor? My college paid for my FM system through my OSAP. I'm trying to wrap my mind around you situation, and why it's a hard time for you to get an FM system....

Anyone w/ Oticon Sumo digital aid?

I have the sumo in my right ear. I will say, I remember it being programmed and it actually took the audiologist about an hour and a half to get it to a point where I could handle the sounds. It was first set for volume 2, and its now at 3. I've had the hearing aid for about 3 years now, it's a...

    4/20

Well its the day after, I actually went to a party at my cousins, did NOT do weed, one of my friends did and holy crap she was really out of it. Everyone got drunk, my cousin threatened these people who weren't invited with a bat, and several people got high. Good day over all, now time to...

"Oh, you speak so well!" and other annoying comments

Yes, its the animated Blue's Clues that have the ASL. I remember, Thank you, Book, Help, Smart, Think(although I'm not sure if he was just using it because it's an obvious sign). Can't remember any others. But there is a movie of Blue's Clues with ASL in it... Here it is on Amazon.. Blue's...

"Oh, you speak so well!" and other annoying comments

It's hard to learn new languages. I took eight years of french, none of it got into my head. And my signing is very rusty. I have to point out of how people were raised. If deaf children were born into a hearing family, that hearing family has two choices. Raise the child vocally or using ASL...

"Oh, you speak so well!" and other annoying comments

Very true, some people aren't even aware that there are interpreters for the deaf, they just assume that Deaf people use ASL with deaf people and pen and paper with hearing people. It's very interesting to learn how some people have been raised to view the world, both deaf and hearing. Most...
