Truly tragic... my heart goes out to the parents. The dialogue is in Turkish (I am assuming). So unless anyone here speaks Turkish, the best we could hope to do is spell it out phonetically (which might make it even less clear!).

Lacking a good ASL equivalent for the English idiom "hang out," I've tended to sign "chat" in conversation, as in: "I enjoy chatting with friends." (You can find the sign for "chat" in the ASL browser, though the woman's sign seems exaggerated and a lot bigger than I tend to see "chat" signed...

Has he really? That's news to me... though I'll admit I haven't been much involved with the NAD in the past two years or so. Good to know, though. I guess that's part of the changing face at the NAD generally -- I know there have been several turnovers there recently.

Wow... Hasn't happened with my kids yet, though they're also a lot closer in age (5 years and 10 months). That's definitely something to watch out for in the coming months, I guess!

You can probably also use the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) as a resource -- I know Kelby Brick's very much on top of legal issues (if it comes to litigation), and there are probably a number of people at the NAD that can direct you to more local resources to pursue first.

You might want to consider shopping by dress manufacturer rather than by store (the internet has a lot to offer this way). For example, I have never seen anyone look bad in a Maggie Sottero dress. The lines tend to be flattering to anyone's figure, and the dresses are comfortable besides...

Hmm... that seems oddly reminiscent of my experience at that school. Glad to know I'm not the only one.

I've toyed with the idea of someday going back to finish the deaf studies / deaf ed program there, though I suppose that would be purely for personal edification at this point... I've heard good and bad things about the grad deaf ed program from those involved, though I really know nothing...

I've got a BA and MA degree, and I'm working on a PhD. It seems an interminable process at times. Shel, how did (does?) your brother like McDaniel? I was there for a while as an undergrad, but transferred out before finishing the program. What program is/was he in?
