    Oh, it's an actual person, like a stenographer... I'm not quite sure that one would work out. I appreciate the help though, and I'm planning on looking into lip-reading.

    No way. I always use subtitles when I watch a dvd or captions on tv. I've even joked about wanting real life to have subtitles... How well does this work?

    Well the main reason they don't work so well is due to the large classrooms. I think if the voice was right in my ear, it might work. Erm, ASL means american sign language, I think... but what does CART mean?

    Well, from what I know, almost every phone can do this. For me, I just go to settings, ring styles, and select vibrate.

    Hrm, I have a slightly different view on this. I see my hearing loss as a flaw. To me, not seeing it as a hinderance takes away from the difficulty of overcoming it, giving less meaning to personal strength.

    Erm, I don't mean to offend or anything, but do you mean that most deaf people don't consider it an ailment, or that something is wrong? I mean, I'm missing bones in my ear.... I haven't spent much time in the deaf/hoh community, so I don't really know.
