Thank you honey. I broke the fibula and tore the ligaments. I've been in this crappy walking boot since the last week of October.

That sucks, Alley...those boots are ugly too. A friend slipped in a spot of water a few days ago....broke her arm and ankle...has 2 casts....she is really miserable.

I vaguely remember seeing Silverfish...in NC...or maybe Florida (not sure)...what do they eat?...

paper.
Oh, I will admit that I hate silverfish (house centipedes) I actually broke my middle toe trying to kung-fu kick one off the wall. I forgot I did not have shoes on.

Are you sure it wasn't the other way around? You got kicked by silverfish? :giggle:
After all, it has many legs.... :dunno2:

Fuzzy

nope, They eat the glue from old wallpaper in older homes ( its a starch based glue. ) But sugars and carbs are also in their diet, not wood fibers.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silverfish

That too, but they do eat paper. I know that because I have a lot - like, humongous amount - of books, and the traces of silverfish
eating the covers of some are plainly visible to the naked eye.
You can read about it here:

I was extremely lucky that my books had only small amount of "white" traces of S-F gnawing on top of some hard copies cover,
similar to what is on the image. but nothing to the extent like that on the photo.
someone advised me to sprinkle diatomaceous earth on the shelves, and it seemed to do the trick.
In the closets, under the beds and whenever I saw the s-fishes appearing I put up the sticky traps. it helped, too.
We didn't have heavy infestation anyway.

Also, looks like you missed this in your own link :)

Silverfish consume matter that contains polysaccharides, such as starches and dextrin in adhesives.[4] These include book bindings, carpet, clothing, coffee, dandruff, glue, hair, some paints, paper, photos, plaster, and sugar.

Fuzzy

its actually what type of paper, because they don't really target the paper its what its made from.
Like wallpaper, they don't eat the wallpaper just the glue but they damage the wallpaper due to that. Books are made of many variations of "papers" like rice paper and other starch sources, those books will become damaged at a higher percentage than wood fiber pages.

So, you think. They have a plan..ya know just lurking til you come by. Oh, I will admit that I hate silverfish (house centipedes) I actually broke my middle toe trying to kung-fu kick one off the wall. I forgot I did not have shoes on.

Silverfish look beautiful! They are harmless! You could have used paper to carry it outside. Sorry about your toe!

With all due respect they are not harmless :nono:
They do damage expensive books which were some of my hardcovers.
They do ruin priceless, irreplaceable library items. that's only the beginning!
btw, I just found out on the picture that Cappy posted is not Silverfish, is Common House Centipede.
Which is good news for him, and bad, as it turns out he shouldn't have killed it:

House centipedes prey on many household pests. Some of their preferred prey include, cockroaches, flies, moths, crickets, silverfish, earwigs and small spiders, but they will prey on almost any insect pests.

So, how about it Cappy - smoking pot, errr, peace pipe with future found House Centipede instead of delivering another karate kick?

Okay..okay..dunno why I called it silverfish. No, it has nothing to do with the peace pipe! Just me being...well me! :)

Welcome, AC- when do you get the boot off?
Not for at least 3 more weeks. It's been about 7 weeks now. With them finding the torn ligaments last week I don't know if that extends this. I nearly fell down a whole flight of stairs this morning. Thank god for a railing !!

Feeling much better after that fish Tank (100 gallons) busted and flooded everything...Not my fish tank, but the upstairs neighbors....LOL...water coming down the ceilings....
anyway...getting the stitches taken out tomorrow from my jaw-line...(skin cancer)...and hope I won't have to keep any bandages on my jaw anymore!....and they don't have to do another biopsy...Thinking positive...but not liking the scar I have...guessing some makeup will cover it (but I don't wear makeup)...

Wow! I hope they cleaned it up and made repairs for you.

Yes, think positive.

I'm afraid older skin takes longer to heal smoothly but our wrinkles can hide scars, too. ;)
