You also seem to ignore requests for clarification when you make statements about others that you cannot backup. I refer you back to post #19 when you accused me of having a CI Ideology. Now you accuse me of thinking Deaf people are dumb. So that must mean I think I am dumb as is the mother of MY children and many of my friends. There are a lot of stupid people on this world but whether or not they can hear has nothing to do with it.

As for the term normal. You do realize that language had to have common meanings in order to communicate effectively. I would have advised the poster to use hearing people instead of normal. I don't like the term either, normal really means Same as the majority dominant culture and sociological norms in area. So really Deaf or HoH are different from the norm.
And if we looked close we cold probably pick apart the "normal" group....

One example is the normal society thinks BDSM is perverted and wrong, yet 50 Shades of Grey sold over 40 million copies. Many must obviously have hidden interest or fetish for BDSM. So they cannot be part of that normal group.

We can find many examples where people differ from what they claim is the norm. To the point one could argue that "normal" does not actually exist.

No i didnt get caught with anything. Me using wiki as a means to explain my use of the word technology in framing sign is a different beast entirely then using a dictionary to class and pidgeonhole human biengs

It wasnt an aqusation, it was a retorical question to illustrate a point.

Now I don't accuse you of being dumb at all. I suspect you of maybe being closed minded and unwilling or unable to view any issue from other than your own egocentric perspective of it. As such when another perspective is given, instead of getting to understand it you cast labels on everyone who has a different perspective than you.
Furthermore if you cannot understand and appreciate the perspective of another, there is little hope of convincing them to do the same if yours.

Also, I keep reading about the importance of doing rehab to train your brain to get the most out of your implant.

I am at the end of the line with the latest model available for my magnet. I got my Ci way back in early 90s.

Plenty rehab. Sounds are all same.

Kai, what brand and model of implant and processor do you have? What options are available to you for upgrades now, would it require surgery to update the implant itself? I do see this as one of the biggest risks or drawbacks to CI itself.

N22 and the freedom.

Insurance will not consider an upgrade since I already have a functioning working processor. I even at one point said I wanted the magnet out of my head and they said it was consisered opitional. Even with the mysterious migraines ill only get in the CI area of my head.

I do not ever want to ruin my other ear as im always holding hope they can make the decfective inside ear mend itself again.

Thats how CI works. Attend to the latest newest magnet people first and forget about everyone else down the line
