Had a f****** close call

Maybe your wake call was that you should have a first aid kit ;)

But for future reference if you have a cut that is being stubborn about stopping bleeding, put salt on it. That'll stop it.

I got attacked by a big rusty nail carrying old wood out of the house, the board slid and the nail ripped my chest opened about 3" long. I didnt go get stiches, I didnt cry, I just kept working... Now I got this scar and it keeps swelling up and itching, I think there might be something trapped under the skin since it healed, most of it is normal but about a 1/2" to 1" of the scar swells up and itches from time to time???? Am I gonna die?

Yes.

But seriously, you could have some bits of crud trapped underneath that are in the process of being pushed out. I was in a car accident once, t-boned so hard my hearing aids were pulled out of my ears from the impact. I had a lot of glass in my head and they said that if they were to dig it out it would cause more scarring than leaving it. I was also told that the glass would work itself out over a period of months and most of them did, though I would occasionally get a piece out more than a year later. It did the same thing, swelled and itched. Or it could just be scar healing with nothing coming out.

My grandfather had a close call. He was working in a bottling factory and sliced off three of his fingers. They were hanging by skin, so he took some scissors and chopped them off the rest of the way while waiting to go to the ER. He ended up refueling airplanes until he retired.

Mark, a question. How did you manage to cut your knee and cause bleeding that was so bad you can't walk on it right after we told you to stop exaggerating, as it wasn't like you actually had cut yourself?

I just want to know what he doing crawling around the floor :laugh2:

Wait, no I really don't want to know, I don't actually care :)

Yes.

You asked for it. Now I'm gonna show you the cut itself.

My knee cut, as promised. When it happened, I thought it was shallow, but that does not appear to be the case-- looks like it got me deeper than I thought.

Well since I read all 5 pages of this I feel obliged to comment. That looks like a pimple to me!

It's not. Wasn't there until early this morning. And pimples are popped, not sliced. That is NOT a pimple.

Are you ****ing serious? Dear Lord you're whacked.

Actually it does look like an ingrown hair, but that's not why I said you're whacked.

THAT, that little tiny thing, was deeper than you thought, wouldn't stop bleeding? You're making a big deal about it?

Oh yeah sure, that's a serious injury right there, profuse bleeding surely occurred. Just......,gtfo omg it's so moronic I can't hardly stand it.

Dude that's not normal.

I nearly fainted when I saw the picture.

Your body swelling after a cut in no way designates the severity of the injury. Small cuts on my fingers while cooking food have swollen far more than big cuts with fat spilling out that needed to be sewn up. The swelling is a normal response to a cut injury.

And I agree, that looks like absolutely nothing. Getting an abscess lanced without painkillers, leaving 3/4 inch cut that I had to keep open and pack twice daily (that is, pull out the pus and blood covered gauze and stuff with fresh) for a week or so was an impressive cut.

I'm shocked that that is keeping you from walking around. I had a two inch cut on my knee that they stapled shut, and I was walking around the same day.

Also, you can pretty much stop trying to make us feel bad for you in this situation (the knee, the glass on the floor, your near foot amputation from the glass). It's just not going to work. You're not going to convince us that anything regarding this was a horrible situation in any way. Or even a mildly bad situation.

It's time for me to take a break from here for a while.

Ya, I just said it looked like one. My apologies wasn't trying to be unkind. I kind of thought you were joking.
